Our family had a get-together in Harbert and I arranged for my parents to stay at the Harbert House B & B. Nancy was a wonderful hostess. The rooms are lovely--all with their own bath. She was helpful with tips on the area too. Very convenient to Red Arrow Hwy. and the whole Harbert/Sawyer/Lakeside area. They loved the breakfasts she served and there was wireless internet too. Would definitely go back and recommend this B & B to others!

What a wonderful B&B! After visiting New Buffalo, Michigan and surrounding towns, we were tired of the ordinary hotel and resorts. Located in Harbert, Michigan, Nancy Watson has found a perfect way to have her guests enjoy the beauty of Michigan while giving each guest a sense of "family". Upon our arrival, there were freshly made hors'd oeuvres and she served guests their choice of wines or a cocktail. At breakfast, the spinach fritta and fresh asparagus encased in ham was tastefully placed on breakfast plates along with fresh cut cantalope. She made a wonderful rhubarb/blueberry coffee cake that was served with imported coffee. Also, the strawberry breakfast smoothie was wonderful. Each of her rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate. She has a gift for placing perfect collections in each themed bedroom. The living and dining rooms, along with an enclosed porch, all have scenic views. The outside front porch was perfect for our reading pleasure. You could walk to Lake Michigan in 20 minutes, drive to casinos, visit wineries, or take in the countless art galleries. Several excellent restaurants are nearby. Oh.... we also spotted 2 deer lazily sitting under one of trees in her backyard. We didn't want to leave! Definitely will be back.....

We visited for 1 night in early May and are returning in 2 weeks time. We loved the place and in particular Nancy's hospitality. The rooms were newely refurbished, clean and bright and bathrooms spotless. The communial areas were great too. Best of all was the wine and canapies at 5 and the breakfast. The breakfast was not your "typical" hotel breakfast (it is a B&B) and there was no choice but what was presented was delicious, well cooked food with a little imagination.

We stayed here and thought it was great! The location was excellent, right off Red Arrow. It was winter so we obviously didn't go to the beach, but we did drive down the road towards it and it couldn't have been more than a 1 minute drive. The owner said it's about a 20 minute walk. The rooms are modern and attractive. We stayed in the Old West. It was spotless and very tasteful. We peeked into the other rooms since we were the only guests, and each was beautiful. I actually don't think the pics on the website do them justice! The bathrooms were especially gorgeous--amazing tile work in each. There is a HUGE screened in sun porch where you can eat/sit, and there is a huge living room with a big TV, lots of couches, games, and even a fireplace, which the owner lit for us one night. Unlike the previous reviewer, we thought the food was absolutely perfect. It was all fresh, inventive, and attractively presented. It's a really nice touch to get a little taste and a glass of wine in the early evening--we felt like it was one of those things that makes this place a cut above. Breakfasts were our favorite--goat cheese frittata and proscuitto wrapped asparagus one day and lemon ricotta pancakes with sauteed apples another. And the breakfasts were enormous! We left each day absolutely stuffed. The owner was warm and welcoming, directing us to good shops and restaurants when we asked. Overall we had a really lovely stay and hope we can go back again.

We stayed at Harbert House and the nicest thing about it is the rooms...they were wonderfully clean and updated. The private bathrooms are great. It was in a convenient location and the staff was nice. They offered wine and some food during a happy hour time...but the food offered was a tuna brushetta? Really...a tuna brushetta? Not exactly something that everyone would enjoy. We ended up eating our own crackers and cheese. The breakfast in the morning was fine...waffles, fruit, coffee and juice. Nothing too extravagent. It is very close to a private beach that the owners have a parking pass for...which was really great. so, they let us use it and we went to the beach close by. Overall, it was nice and clean, but the food was odd. I've had much better in other B/B's.
