This is a follow up to a review I wrote on 12 Aug and promised to post.
We came back through town on the 12th. I tried to write a follow up then but Trip Advisor rules preclude you from reviewing too often.
We took a room on the 2nd floor this time. The first thing that greeted us on the stairwell was an old beat up, cigarette burned trash can. Not very appealing. The carpet was badly stained. It's hard to fault the hotel for stained carpeting from people who treat the property poorly. The room was dated, I give every place I stay a good look before settling in. Behind the beds under the headboard was disgusting about an inch of dust and under that dust was an old hair brush. That's a management issue, rooms should be throughly inspected on a regular basis. This room was not,
And it showed. It sounds like efforts are being made to update the property. Until then you opinion of this hotel will drowns which room you get.

As an older property we are continually upgrading and renovating the hotel.

If you have an opportunity to stay with us in the future please post a review. We have made a number of improvements in the last six months and would be happy to hear your comments.

We scoured around Gaylord when we arrived trying to find a place to sleep for the night without spending $100 for a bed. Happend upon this place, and for $69 for 2 people, plus having a bar and restaurant attached, and a free morning breakfast, the deal could not be beat. Gino's is attached to this motel, and the food and atmosphere were just what we were looking for, and the food both that night, and in the morning was great.

I have never stayed is such a filthy crap hole in my life!! don't expect to watch tv in the room as it looks to be hooked up to rabbit ears! the pool and hot tub is NOT usable!!! The attached Ginos restaurant and bar is a filthy hole too!! The food sucks real bad and so does the drinks!! They also rip you off when the bill comes!! This hotel is not worth one penny!! Please avoid at all costs!!!

I am shocked and upset by your review of our property. We have no record of a complaint during your stay. Your room was upgraded from a king room to a whirlpool room at no additional charge. The room you stayed in had new carpet installed within the last month and new drapes within the year. The room was thoroughly cleaned after putting in the carpet and back in our inventory. We are an older property but consistently make upgrades to the hotel.

Genos restaurant is a separate business that leases the restaurant from the hotel owners. If you feel you were not treated honestly by Genos and can be more specific I will discuss the matter with them myself and try to recoup your loss.

I am sorry you were unhappy with the overall experience. At the Quality Inn we strive to provide a clean and safe place for our guests.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and have always found it very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. This time we were very pleased to find everything has been updated. From new carpeting in the halls and rooms to new bedcoverings. Our stay was great and will stay again next year.

We stayed here on a trip from North Carolina to Charlevoix. We chose this hotel based on how close it was to our final destination because we had to catch a ferry the next day. Plus it was dog friendly.

The location is good and the staff was excellent. The rooms, however, left a lot to be desired. The first two dog friendly rooms they put us in smelled horribly of cigarette smoke. They were unbearable. So I went to the front desk and told them and they gladly moved us to two other rooms. The room itself wasn't too bad, though very small. The problem was that it started raining that evening and our window leaked so badly that when I got up to use the bathroom, I stepped in a huge puddle of water that was pooling under the air conditioner. The toilet seat was broken, and ended up breaking completely off. The bathroom was not clean at all.

I probably wouldn't have had such an issue if this had been an inexpensive room, but we paid $96 per night per room. For that price, I expect a nice clean, dry room with a toilet I can use.

We were supposed to stay there on our trip back home, but all of us decided that we just couldn't bear to stay there again. So we booked another hotel instead.

We are an older property and are continually making upgrades.

Our pet rooms are the hardest to maintain and generate the most negative remarks. Unfortunately we are having to review our pet friendly policy in view of the feedback our pet rooms generate.
