Loved this evening spent with friends! An "old standby" restaurant that has not lost any of its luster! They still start off the meal with Popovers...a tasty roll full of buttery flavor. The Swordfish was quite tasty as was the Calamari and the Haddock! Not to be missed desserts were the Chocolate Espresso Cake and the Coupe Glacee! And the view? Lovely"

Years ago this was "the" place to get a wonderful New England dinner--fresh popovers, a nice salad, fish or lobster right from the ocean , all served in a bright room with a great view. Now the place is tired and worn out, the food mediocre at best, and the service inconsistent. Definitely not worth a visit, unless nostalgia means more than good food and good service in a sparkling location. Pass it by!!

Went to this restaurant on a beutiful day.the sun shining through the windows .the ocean looked perfect . And the parking lot had. Plenty of spaces to park . That. Was all that was good .
We walk in and greeted by a gentleman who just assumed we would follow him because he was holding menus. And we did.I couldn't believe the filthy tables and the chairs. Omg.The only reason we stayed was for the older gentleman wanted to stay because of memories .I understood the server was. Clearly new ,her apron was so stained and gross. Did I mention we showed at close to opening.she was a doll .very nice but, no knowledge of the menu again nice kid. We ordered my wife's salad came out and it was so large"I know why" when she started to dig in it had slimy spinach in it How could they have not noticed . First time my wife ever returned anything in a restaurant. She ordered arugula salad and said it was wonderful
Our dinners came. She had scallops the gentleman we were with had lamb and I ordered prime rib. Special of the day Rib wasn't going to be done till 2:30
No problem I'll have the sirloin .
The food was put down I asked if I could have a knife that didn't have encrusted food from the last guest on it
While I waited for the knife I smelted something odd in our area couldn't place it until I cut the steak and put it in my mouth. Holy god it was so bad and rancid I couldn't believe it. My wife could smell it . All while this was going on. A new party was seated at a table behind us that was never cleaned from the previous party .they had to ask for a cloth The server never cleaned they left it for the customer to do. @40 dollars a plate
Well waited for the server to come back. I told her to bring it in the kitchen and smell it.
She came back apologized. And offered something else No thank you

Manager came over apologized and offered me prime rib And was apologetic very apologetic

I took nothing
They were nice but I was nice

Thank Bob P

"Extra charge" is the mantra of this long in the tooth grande dame that rests on its laurels and its popovers. But worth the price for a ringside seat on July 3rd

At first pros
Incredible outstanding views.Just pleasure to watch and get relaxed
Perfect and delicious popovers.Very memorable
Food is rather mediocre.Totally does not match price. It is quite edible, but do not expect anything memorable.
Service is rally bad.I would say that waitresses are completely non professional,it was just awkward to watch their activities. They were also in such tremendous rash to get rid of us-it was rather late, that we even felt sorry for them. However views are really majestic and very nice
