I booked this hotel after seeing it rated as comparable to a '3-star' chain hotel. But for that comparison I would expect a standard room that had rugs, instead of a hard concrete floor covered with an enamel-like sealant made to look like a rug. The bathroom should also have a towel rack, and the main room should at least have a small table to use for work or eating.
Upon arriving, I found that my standard room was a room for smokers, a surprise in this age of the hospitality industry (Clerk's explanation: 'You didn't specify non-smoking.')
I was switched to a non-smoking room, only to find a cigarette butt and other trash in the room. That was discovered while trying to get the new TV to turn on by tracing the various cables behind the furniture.
The chief night clerk refused to follow the maintenance man's advice to simply put me in another room given ongoing television problems at this renovated property, and the poor housekeeping.
It took a second TV breakdown to convince the clerk to move me over one room.
In total, it was close to an hour to get a clean room with a working television.
This property is actually two hotels under one name -- part of it is two-star and another three-star.
