Sadly this was a horrible experience due to the owner, Debbie, double booking the property.
I reserved this rental 8/9/15 via TripAdvisor for myself, my boyfriend and our two boys. Email response time was quick, but communication with the owner was quite vague and confusing. For example, I asked if dogs were allowed, she said yes for an additional fee. The day before we were set to arrive she emailed to inform us dogs weren’t allowed at this property, leaving us to scramble in making other arrangements for our pet. Also, Debbie sprung a 50.00 cleaning fee on us via email, which she said FlipKey neglected to charge us. When I questioned her on this, she then again said she mistook us for being registered at another property and the fee will only be 30.00. Needless to say, we were not happy, but decided to just go with it. We were looking forward to getting away!
I spoke with Debbie Thursday as our arrival was set for Friday. Check in is at 1:00 and the key would be in the rental. I took Friday off from work; we packed and arrived about 3pm only to find the property was already occupied by a very nice family from New York. We spoke about the mix-up as we awaited Debbie’s solution…turns out they paid 120.00 a night VS our 140.00 and there was NO mention of a cleaning fee to them.
We felt extremely frustrated with the lack of compassion from the owner over our displacement. Debbie did attempt to assist us in finding a place to stay. Unfortunately, this would have cost us 100’s of dollars more. In the end we made the best of our stay in Plymouth for one night at a local hotel. …still costing us more money. Not quite the weekend we planned thanks to some extreme disorganization.
