Me and my husband were in Meeru island resort and spa from 16th-18th January on a Jacuzzi water villa.
We still can't understand the logic behind their crazy hygiene policy, "Men can't wear sleeveless tops in dining area, but woman can wear anything". We tried to console ourselves thinking that this could be a law in Maldives island.
But the worst thing is the way they presented it to us. We went to the lunch after checking-in and as soon as we entered to the restaurant a waiter escorted us to a corner along with our soup bowls (yes, me and husband both; don't know what I have to do with this) without even letting us to be seated. Then a supervisor kind of person told my husband this rule and asked him not to wear like that (sleeveless tops) again, He said ok without arguing since he didn't want to get destroy our vacation mood. Finally we were allowed to be seated by the waiter and supervisor. We were thinking / talking about the impolite way they treated to us. Thinking its over we started to have our lunch after the long hectic journey. Then suddenly another lady appeared ( I assume she is also a supervisor) and started to speak to my husband in a very harsh way. She was asking the same thing and my husband still said ok without arguing, but she still continued her mean style of speaking. So it was very embarrassing. Even though we were a couple expecting a luxurious experience, after this we felt like criminals caught by the police.

Water is quite expensive.

Better we had a kit with toothpaste. We can get it only by request.

Apart from that everything was great. Specially chef staff was very nice and food was awesome. The villa we stayed was kind of old but they maintain it well. We enjoyed the island, walking in the shallow sea and diving with wonderful Euro divers staff.

Having been to 3 islands, Kuramathi, Kuredu (also owned by Meeru company) and now Meeru I have no hesitation in recommending this resort as the best so far.

The island itself is beautiful with big stretches of sand all the way round and of course the crystal clear sea you'd expect from the Maldives.

The food in the buffet restaurant (Adult only at North side) has been good quality all through the stay with a great choice. We've found no need to pay extra for the alacarte restaurants.

The service provided by all has been excellent, including the front desk who have accommodated our every desire when we decided to move rooms. A special thanks also to Ishmael who has looked after us at the restaurant and the friendly chefs!

I must say a special thank you to the management for the complimentary upgrade provided for the last 3 days from our already lovely beach villa to the stunning Water Villa that leads out from your sun deck straight down onto the beach, oh and of course equipped with a great jacuzzi!! I really don't want to come home!

For anyone like me who reads all comments on trip advisor, please pay no attention to the moaners as this island is all you could want. Enjoy!!

We are what is called on Meeru Repeaters. We originally visited Meeru in Oct 14 for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. So we returned with some in trepidation after having such a good time before.
On arrival we were taken to one side and as they already had all our details from our previous visit, the reception process took no more than a couple of minutes, being greated by a cool towel and a non alcoholic cocktail.
We were then taken to our room and after quick shower and change we had been asked to attend the repeaters cocktail evening which is held Friday evenings.
Again it was good to see how many of the Staff who came over to see us, remembering us from our previous trip.
It is the Staff that make Meeru, they all have name tags and badges to say how many years they have worked on Meeru. The highest number we saw was 26.
I have to mention a few of them Thauheed and waheed our waiters and Peny who makes an excellent cocktail, you need to engage with the staff they will leave you alone if you don't talk to them, by the end of our time there we new all about them and there family's, it doesn't hurt to even say hello to the person raking vegetation from the sea. We walked around the island everyday just by saying hello to see people's faces light up when you approach is always good.
The accomodation is really good with a house boy that looks after it for you, your bed is turned down every night for you, there was some refurbishment going on whilst we were there, but you have to expect that, it didn't bother anyone and it was nice to see how much care was being taken.
I would recommend the Kagi island trip you will see turtles.
Will we return again yes, Meeru has that calling.
