I have to admit, when I first stepped into Mario's I thought it would be a dingy Italian pizza place with bad cooking. But looks can be deceiving. The food here is very good but it is more Iike a 70's family pizza place than a fancy Italian restaurant. The Mediterranean salad was very good with crumbled feta cheese and red peppers. The eggplant parmesan was also very good. It was really heavy and oily, but it was cooked well and tasted good. The marinara sauce was also seasoned well. The major failing for me was the atmosphere. The lighting was very dim, it was very loud, and the carpet was dirty. This is a good place for a family dinner with babies or small children, but definitely not for a romantic date or a special occasion.
