“A Slice of Heaven”

If you are looking for perfection personified - look no further. You will want to move in and never leave. The house is magnificent furnished with beautiful antiques. The staff is incredibly helpful, warm, friendly and efficient. Ellen (the owner) is a superb master chef who works with her staff to prepare fantastic gourmet breakfasts each morning. David (the innkeeper) is a real renaissance man, from making dinner reservations to helping you dig your car out of the snow. Rebecca is Ellen's "wing man" and makes sure you are comfortable and relaxed. Piper & Quinn are the permanent canine residents - who are the sweetest creatures you will ever encounter. The Inn is conveniently located to a host of attractions, places and activities, i.e.Tanglewood, musuems, shops, restaurants, parks and wild life preserves. Whether you want to sit back in a cozy chair in front of the fireplace or do some hiking or skiing - this is the place to do it all. It doesn't get any better than this!

Room Tip: All the rooms are gorgeous - you won't be disappointed. We stayed in The Dana room located in th...

We spent a couple of nights at Birchwood Inn in October and had the spectacular room in the loft, which was very pink, beautifully equipped and very well maintained, if ever so slightly chilly at times. Breakfast was superb and made all the more enjoyable by the gorgeous presence of the two dogs. Quinn, the Inn's golden retriever , is just lovely and it is hard to resist feeding her morcels from the table, but you MUST! There is also an all day larder available, which is very welcome indeed. Birchwood is handily located for all the Lenox and Berkshires attractions and is within walking distance of some excellent restaurants, most notably Alta, which should be on everyone's eating itinerary. David and Ellen are outstanding hosts at Birchwood, full of helpful ideas and advice on what to do and where to visit locally, as well as being utterly charming in every regard.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Birchwood on a recent trip to New England and we were so pleased we chose the Birchwood! We stayed in the beautiful Hubbard room, and I wish I could eat breakfast there every morning. The food was spectacular, we had homemade waffles, grilled pineapple with raspberry smash, blueberry corn muffins, ham, freshly baked bread with jam, and assorted other goodies. We enjoyed strolling through Lenox, hiking through the park across the street to the overlook, and hanging out on the front porch of the Birchwood. Can't say enough great things about David and Ellen as they were truly delightful hosts. Every inch of the inn was immaculately clean and it was like being at home (but better)! We will definitely be back for another visit.

Just returned from another lovely trip to the Birchwood Inn! We stayed in the beautiful Dana Room and enjoyed scrumptious breakfasts, hot cider and home baked goodies in the library for late afternoon tea and a perfect spot to venture out into the stunning Berkshires.
Ellen and David could not be more kind and welcoming! Quinn and Piper (the resident canines) are beloved by all the guests and add to the inn's ambience. And Ellen is a fantastatic cook and baker, too. David is always so much fun and is a wealth of information about everything from local restaurants to galleries to hiking trails. Ellen is a sweetheart and even surprised mewith a cake for my birthday! Can't wait to go back again!

My husband and I just returned from having stayed at the Birchwood Inn in the MacDonald room. The Birchwood is the perfect New England Inn, with all the warm cozy touches, including a resident golden retriever, a porch with the rocking chairs, comfy drawing room with a fireplace and lots of books for perusing. The location is perfect too. Walk a couple of blocks to the heart of Lenox and its restaurants. There's even a hiking trail across the street. David and Ellen are perfect hosts as well - friendly, accommodating and helpful. We loved our room. It was in the separate cottage house and was quiet, super clean and very comfy - we loved all the pillows! Oh, and I cannot forget to mention the gourmet breakfasts! It was the best meal of our day, everyday. We make be making the Birchwood Inn our annual anniversary tradition.
