“Nothing special here”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

I will start out with the good; the beds have excellent mattresses.... I read the posts here and we decided to try the Anchor Inn , We arrived late in the evening and found the Hotel to be opposite the hospital, the mini harbor is nice but most rooms do not face the harbor. We found the breakfast was bagels, bread , cereal...no eggs of any kind. We were surprised to find the second day the hotel has a 100% no pets.......Which included my service dog...

AnchorInHyannisowner, Owner at Anchor In Hotel, responded to this review, 15 April 2012
We encourage travelers to consider a large sampling of our property's reviews. If most other reviews are very positive, a negative review may be a mere biased aberration.
The guest knowingly and intentionally deceived us by keeping a dog on the property in spite of being verbally told and acknowledging in writing our policy during check in and got caught. The guest initialed and signed his check in form acknowledging our policy at check in which states “I hereby assume full responsibility to not allow pets on the property or in my room(s) or I may be subjected to a $150. fee for cleaning.”
Travelers with pets have a responsibility to make a lodging choice that accepts pets. We as lodging owners have a responsibility to our guests to ensure that our no pets policy is followed. If a guest is staying in a pet free property, they do not expect to see pets on the property. In response to a just such a guest’s complaint that a dog was in our parking lot, the guest was observed with his dog. When questioned, the guest stated that the dog had been staying in his vehicle and that he would check out. The guest refused to provide any type of documentation that the dog was anything other than a pet. There were no indications that the dog was a service dog or that there was a need for one. It was 10:30 at night and we noted that the guest was from a nearby state. Although it is not our policy to allow pets to remain in vehicles, due to the time and travel considerations, we offered our guest an opportunity to stay the rest of the night as long as his dog remained in the vehicle and he checked out in the morning. This would have been the guests scheduled check out date. The offer was declined.

Totally lived up to expectations after reading other reviews. Beautifully decorated and maintained throughout. Lovely clean room and bathroom (Osterville) with double aspect views of harbour. Extremely helpful, efficient and friendly staff. Great breakfast which is included. Free fast wi-fi. Short walk to Hyannis. What more could you ask !

Room Tip: Osterville room was large and well appointed with double aspect views of harbour.

Our stay @ the Anchor In was wonderful. Lovely, spacious room was immaculate and very quiet, even though we faced the street. Breakfast was far beyond the generic "contintental" with bakery bagels, muffins, a variety of cereals, yogurt, fruit and great coffee. The staff was very attentive & helpful with dinner recommendations. Great location for exploring the Cape.

I had a delightful stay during a recent trip to the Cape. The rooms are very clean, quiet, thoughtfully designed and appointed, loved the down quilt! The complimentary breakfast was excellent in the library looking out at the harbor. This was my third time staying there, each time has been lovely. I would highly recommend it. Great location and rooms, with a friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: The staff helped me choose my room. I was very happy.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a short tour of Massachusetts including Cape Cod. Hyannis is a good base and the Anchor In is quiet, cosy and within easy walking distance of the town and places to eat (even out of season). The setting on the water is lovely too. The rooms are clean and bright (and I think more attractive in real life than in the images on their website!). Others have mentioned the good range of the buffet breakfast and the library with coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Best of all are the people who made up helpful, friendly, attentive staff.
Only bad thing - couldn't use the outside pool as it was too cold, but there wasn't anything the Anchor In could do about that!

Room Tip: 103 had a great view over the harbour and is single storey so no upstairs noise
