“Okay, but needs more oversight of regular housekeeping”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012 via mobile

Just came back from a family event down at the Cape and this is the first more negative than postive review that I have written. First, this is a good place, but the management needs to highlight oversight of housekeeping and routine observation of minor areas, such as cleaning around rink area - had not been thorough and I asked an attendant in the area to go over it. I showed what needed the attention - door area, sink area, and then later saw the edge of the shower area needed more attention; and the attendant did what was asked, but to be more pro-active, this need not be the job of the guest. The indoor pool needed to be tested for ph level, looked a bit cloudy. When we came in the room, it had faint cigarette smells, opened the window and got wonderful sea air which helped, could be the previous guests were heavy smokers and that can carry into a non-smoking area sometimes. When I went to the lobby, the retraction desk had a wire basket on the ground nearby, but it was full. This was during check-in time so it could be that they were busy, but it was not that busy. Small areas like this get noticed by guests and need to be emptied before it is too full. I have been to the cape many times and thought we would try Courtyard out for its convenience and level of comfort. he bed mattress was great, the linens were very comfortable, the reviews were mostly favorable. However, for the price I thought it would be a bit better for overall quality. I would give the staff a passing C, but with hope that they spruce it up a bit before the season really gets busy. It was only half full hotel with a full staff - three attendants on the first floor for cleaning rooms and two registration staff at the front desk, but it looked like they were just going through the motions, not ready for the prime time starting with Memorial Day full throttle. Executive management can make this review turn to a full appreciation if they pay attention to the details mentioned here. Otherwise, it is a good place.

Also for the quietest room, please request rooms far away from the mall side or the road side, because the Sears automotive garages are next door and may be removing lug nuts, the parking is also on Side B as they call it for easier access than walking through the hallways, and in the early weekend morning, the early bird departures for the ferry goers may be noisier than your preferences,,or also the seagulls, yes, a flock of seagulls, who love the asphalt next to the mall for noisy bird parties of throwing quohags, we will let the bird lovers explain what seagulls are doing out there at dawn. Enough said on finding the best rooms as we found out at dawn after a late night ourselves. Not a deal breaker, because we happily fell back to slumbering with fresh, crisp, cool salt air restoring our beauty sleep.

This place is only 2-l/2 miles from the Kennedy Compound.. and 45 minutes to ferry to Martha's Vineyards.. also 5 minutes to the ferry to Nantucket...It is on Cape Cod so driving the cape from there is a wonderful treat... Buffet breakfast is good..next door, walking to Cape Cod Mall... super market about l/2 mile away...

Clean room. Unmarred furniture. Sink in the bathroom with tub and commode. Flat panel TV. If you want to use a sleep timer you will need to do it manually using the TV controls and not the remote. Housekeeping and Check-In Staff both did a great job. Only moments from the beaches and downtown Hyannis. Lots of shopping and restaurants close by. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I always ask for a top floor to have no one above me. This hotel was amazingly quiet even though it...

When we arrived we discovered that the bar and restaurant were curtained off and under repair ditto parts of the lobby. Had I known I might have stayed elsewhere. Location is great for shopping - their neighbor is the Cape cod mall. They have free (slow) Internet. The bottle of water in the room costs 3.50 but there is free coffee. Pool was over chlorinated but good size. Health club is small.

First, the hotel gave no indication they are under major lobby renovations. There was a workman using spakle inches behind the young man checking me in at what looked to be a mini bar.

The noise during the transaction was relentless. He took 3 other guest check ins over mine because he could not verify the reservation. When I asked for the manager--he told me there is no manager on at this time. What? 3:45 PM? A major check in time? I later found out this was NOT the case

I specifically asked for a quiet corner of the hotel to get some sleep. They put me near the hall's second enterance, near the ice machine, next to a guest who came for a romantic weekend. And this is February--off season on the Cape. The hotel was NOT sold out. I call the desk about noise at 6 AM. The night dek man was nice. He told me to call back later when a manager would come on. The manager who I was spoke with later in the morning admitted she never read the log book noting my complaint. She was terse with me on the phone. It was point---counter point with Alyson, the manager at the time. She said the halls were walked and they heard no noise. WELL.............The windows rattled with the sound of the wind. The walls were paper thin, hearing the couple next door having religious moments......."Oh, God! Yes!!!!" Yes!!!!

I had to call Marriott myself, hand the phone over to the man at check in, for him to get my Marriott Elite membership information. He called the closed Elite POINTS desk in Utah.

Never again.

Avoid this Marriot like the Medeival Black Death Plague. And this is from who stays at Marriott over 70 days a year.
