Just came back from a family event down at the Cape and this is the first more negative than postive review that I have written. First, this is a good place, but the management needs to highlight oversight of housekeeping and routine observation of minor areas, such as cleaning around rink area - had not been thorough and I asked an attendant in the area to go over it. I showed what needed the attention - door area, sink area, and then later saw the edge of the shower area needed more attention; and the attendant did what was asked, but to be more pro-active, this need not be the job of the guest. The indoor pool needed to be tested for ph level, looked a bit cloudy. When we came in the room, it had faint cigarette smells, opened the window and got wonderful sea air which helped, could be the previous guests were heavy smokers and that can carry into a non-smoking area sometimes. When I went to the lobby, the retraction desk had a wire basket on the ground nearby, but it was full. This was during check-in time so it could be that they were busy, but it was not that busy. Small areas like this get noticed by guests and need to be emptied before it is too full. I have been to the cape many times and thought we would try Courtyard out for its convenience and level of comfort. he bed mattress was great, the linens were very comfortable, the reviews were mostly favorable. However, for the price I thought it would be a bit better for overall quality. I would give the staff a passing C, but with hope that they spruce it up a bit before the season really gets busy. It was only half full hotel with a full staff - three attendants on the first floor for cleaning rooms and two registration staff at the front desk, but it looked like they were just going through the motions, not ready for the prime time starting with Memorial Day full throttle. Executive management can make this review turn to a full appreciation if they pay attention to the details mentioned here. Otherwise, it is a good place.
Also for the quietest room, please request rooms far away from the mall side or the road side, because the Sears automotive garages are next door and may be removing lug nuts, the parking is also on Side B as they call it for easier access than walking through the hallways, and in the early weekend morning, the early bird departures for the ferry goers may be noisier than your preferences,,or also the seagulls, yes, a flock of seagulls, who love the asphalt next to the mall for noisy bird parties of throwing quohags, we will let the bird lovers explain what seagulls are doing out there at dawn. Enough said on finding the best rooms as we found out at dawn after a late night ourselves. Not a deal breaker, because we happily fell back to slumbering with fresh, crisp, cool salt air restoring our beauty sleep.
