Tavern on The Hill has been a mountain top fixture for a decade now, and there is a reason-one of the best fine dining spots in the valley. With a deck and outdoor bar overlooking the whole valley, this place is a must visit in the summer. But don't let this be a summer only destination. Winter time is also a good time to sit by their huge fireplace and enjoy your meal.
The menu is wide-lots of fish and steak choices, not very vegetarian friendly. My last visit included a long forgotten off menu choice, Mixed Grille Paillarde- boneless chicken breast, butterfly cut filet mignon and veal pounded thin-all covered in a gorgonzola/butter glaze. Accompanied by mashed potatoes, a visually stunning fresh asparagus slices on top of warmed red cabbage, a squash bisque and gorgonzola garlic bread. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing is highly recommended.
Overall, I'd give these guys the nod over East Side Grill as the 'go to' spot for fine dining in the valley.
Chef Larry will certainly try to accommodate any wishes the diner may have (within reason). A bit on the pricey side for some, but this place overall is the one stop you should not miss. HIghly recommended.
