Historic lighthouse which has been moved back from the eroding cliffs. (Rangers figure it will have to be moved again in 80 yrs but probably sooner. The preservation society thinks probably in a few decades.)

On Sunday evenings, the lighthouse is open and you can go up the lighthouse. It is really basic with just a staircase to the top. (Check preservation society - this might be a seasonal thing.)

Little history - this is the lighthouse on the Cape Code potato chips.

There are periodic tours lead by Volunteer Rangers which are very informative about the area, erosion, changes over hundreds of years, etc.

Don't forget to walk 10min from the area to see the Three Sisters light houses.

If you have a annual Park pass, you can park at the lighthouse and beach anytime. If you don't, after 5pm, parking is free (at least that was what I was told)

Thank srodday

It's a great old fashioned a Cap Cod lighthouse that sits atop what was probably once a lonely bluff high above the ocean shoreline but, nowadays it's sandwiched in by beachfront roads, a beach parking area and ( during the days of summer) quite a congested turnaround area for vehicles that are turned away from beach parking.
In truth the lighthouse is best seen just after sundown. Less traffic and the light in the tower becomes more prominent over the open sea.

Beautiful setting on top of the beach. This makes the trip worthwhile whether you care about lighthouses or not. Like virtually all of Cape Cod's lighthouses, Nauset is not open to the public. Settle for the view of the lighthouse; the historical information; go to the beach; visit the Three Sisters lighthouses just down the road. A vital piece of Northeastern history.

Nauset Light is open for tours from 4:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday in June and July. In May, September and October it is open on Sundays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There's also a sign at the site with the history of the lighthouse from a sign to read when it'sclosed.

Spent some time on the beach and then took short hike to see the lighthouse. Had to make a couple trips back due to beach being crowded and unable to park but worth the trip back

Nice piece of history, great views and perfect proximity to Nauset Beach. Good way to spend part of your day, go early so you can hit the beach and get parking.
