I visited Berkshire East for the first time with my teenaged son over the MLK holiday weekend, expecting the inevitable crowds that I'm used to at other ski resorts on holidays. They had received over a foot of snow earlier in the week so the conditions were excellent, yet there were NO CROWDS. The resort was just beautiful - not glitzy and definitely a bit on the older side - but the setting is spectacular; the trails were many and varied and the conditions were as good as I've seen anywhere. For 2 days of skiing there were basically no lift lines, or at most a 3 minute wait for the most popular lift. Given that I was expecting a relatively smaller resort, I was pleasantly surprised that you can have some decently long runs. This is not an especially challenging mountain for the adrenaline black diamond junkies, but there are enough steep and bumpy slopes and places for jumping to keep my son interested. The easier slopes were very wide so that good skiiers can easily get by the beginners. We had a super 2 days on the slopes. The rental facility was fine; the cafeteria/grill not fancy but very good; and the staff was helpful and friendly. Very good experience overall.
