“"Charming Inn by the Sea”
Reviewed 23 July 2012

Upon arrival we were greeted by Byron and his welcoming smile. He offered us ice cold homemade lavender lemonade and scrumptious lemon cookies(my favorite!!!) He gave fabulous recommendations on special places for dinner (Bucca's) and told us some of Donna & his favorite things to do & sights to see on the Cape.
We stayed in the Sea Meadow room which was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. All personal care amenities are made from natural products and lavender essential oil. It didn't take us long to relax & unwind. The pool grounds are tranquil and peaceful surrounded by flowers & gardens. The 3 course breakfasts were fabulous made from fresh & healthy ingredients. The sunrise juice is delicious and I miss the warm lavender hand cloth.
Two wonderful people who have thought of everything to make your stay special. Can't wait to return, already planning our next visit.

If I could give 6,7, or 8 stars I would.

My wife and I came here for our 10 year anniversary/vow renewal ceremony and could not have been more pleased. Every single accommodation was top notch, and we wish we could have stayed longer; my wife reared up when we left.

First, the B&B itself:
First class, high-end and luxurious. The owners/hosts are the nicest, sweetest most attentive couple you could ever ask for in a B&B. Byron is avuncular to the 10th power, and Donna is as talented in the kitchen as she is personable. Every morning a 2-course gourmet breakfast was served. The first course was expertly prepared fruit that was as healthy and tasty as it was beautifully presented. The 2nd course was either some sort of ridiculously delicious pancake/waffle or a chef-inspired protein dish (e.g., a frittata with garden fresh squash and sun dried tomatoes). Both came with either scrumptious bacon or savory maple sausage. Everything came with fresh-squeezed juice and fantastic coffee.

In the afternoon, there was always satisfyingly tasty baked goods available with coffee, tea or lemonade.

The patio where breakfast was served was perfect. One night my wife and I got food to go from a good restaurant and decided to take it to the patio to eat instead of in our room, and of course Byron and Donna provided us plates, silverware and napkins without even being asked to do so. Seriously, they are the nicest, coolest hosts ever.

The room was wonderful. Nothing like a generic hotel room. Felt like you were staying at a guest house of a rich family member. The bed was huge, the linens were super-comfy and the bathroom was immaculately clean.

The vow-renewal ceremony:
For a variety of reasons, when my wife and I got married, it was not the dream situation most women would want. So for our ten-year anniversary we decided to go all out for just ourselves. My wife got the money wedding dress, I bought a new, fine suit and we had selected the Silver package, which included endless photography, hair and make up for my wife, plus flowers and a bouquet. Everything was PERFECT. The day before the ceremony Byron drove us to 3 different possible locations, giving us the history and snapping pics of us the entire time. We selected Pains Creek for the ceremony, which was beautiful.

The day of the ceremony, the woman who did my wife's hair (Nicole), showed up on time, and made my wife look absolutely stunning. When we were ready to go, Byron drove us down there, took everything to the site, while we waited in the car in the cool air-conditioning. Then as we walked to the spot, Byron snapped dozens of pictures.

When we got to the site, highlighted by the Cape Code beach rocks, our minister -Faith Lavender- was there waiting for us. She delivered a sincerely romantic and special speech, then my wife and I recited our renewal vows the whole time the tripod camera Byron set up is recording everything, and he's simultaneaoulsy snapping pictures. It was awesome.

Afterwards we took more pictures, and then went to dinner at a terrific Italian restaurant named Buca's at the recommendation of Donna. B&B provided us with a gift certificate to the restaurant and also changed our reservations at the last second for us. (Buca's will be reviewed separately - 5 stars).

The next day we had to ourselves, and of course Byron and Donna were there whenever we needed them for anything.

This was one of the best vacations we've ever had, and we will never, ever forget the time we spent at Brewster By the Sea, and will never forget how charming, hospitable and "like family" our hosts Donna and Byron were. I can't imagine a better B&B existing anywhere on Cape Code or anywhere else.

This is a beautiful B&B! Everything about it is lovely...the grounds, the rooms and the staff is gracious and courteous. Breakfast was wonderful and we loved the Sunrise juice special every morning!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Refugio...and it was very, very spacious, with a large bathroom and the Wifi worked...

This B&B was beautiful, comfortable, clean and friendly.

We were greeted by Donna, who showed us our room and made sure we knew exactly how to operate everything. She did not leave until we were fully informed. There were cookies and really good lemonade (tasted homemade) waiting for us in the dining room when we checked in and it was a welcome treat after a long drive.

There was a small box of delicious chocolates on our bed to greet us, and a fridge outside our room as well as a coffeemaker and a nice variety of coffee and tea to choose from. The room was very beautiful and tastefully done. Donna obviously has a talent for decorating.

The bathroom was spacious, updated and clean. There were soaps, shampoo, etc. and plenty of toilet paper (which happens to be a pet peave of ours).

Breakfast consisted of a fruit cup, a delicous juice (a combo of fresh squeezed orange and a bit of pomegranate), coffee, scrambled eggs and toast. It was very tasty. Byron made sure we were taken care of and checked back often to see if we needed anything. He and Donna are very nice people and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

We enjoyed our stay very much and when we tried to book a room a few weeks later, the rooms were all full. However, we decided to stay instead at their other B&B that is also in Brewster called the Captain Freeman Inn. It was a very similar experience, except that it is larger house and the bedrooms were in a main building. There were beautifully furnished rooms and a nice staff. We will continue our review at that site.

Loved both places. Highly recommend.

My daughter and I just spent 2 nights in the Refugio Suite as a break from touring NE colleges. We were greeted by the very nice owner, Byron, who showed us around the property and our room. He was very gracious and informative w/directions to various sites and recommendations for places to visit. His restaurant recommendations were excellent. The property is ideally situated mid-cape so you can go anywhere on the Cape w/o much time or effort.

The room was very well equipped, it had excellent light-both ambient and w/3 way bulbs and numerous lamps. The room had everything one could want including a gas fireplace, a microwave, a mini fridge, a tea maker, utensils and plates. The bed was extremely comfortable. The furnishings are lovely and well coordinated. The breakfast was excellent as were the biscotti or brownies left out during the day. All in all, this is just a great place.

I only have one cautionary note-which is that like most B & Bs, this one is w/in 100 feet of route 6 which is a busy road w/a 40 mph speed limit that passes directly in front of the property. Our room faced away from the road, and because it rained almost the entire time we were in residence, this was a complete non-event for us. However, it might be an issue for those who are very sensitive re noise. With that one quasi-caveat, I highly recommend the Brewster by the Sea.
