Our family has eaten here for many years and we go at least once a month or order carry-out. The restaurant atmosphere is nothing fancy but the food is very good. Portions are large so family-style eating allows ordering a variety of dishes to share. Weekend evenings can be very busy so there might be some waiting time. Paul Kee opens until 1am on weekdays and until 2am on weekends(incl. Fri.).
They have a separate "pink" table stand menu that include my favorite Hong Kong style noodle dishes and rice congee that's great to eat any time of the day. The servers can seem abrupt but since we are regulars, at least 2 of them know what we like and are quick to get the food on the table. At the rear of the restaurant, part of the kitchen is visible to the public. Here they have hanging roast ducks, bar-b-que pork, roast pig and chicken. It can get rather noisy when they are chopping all the meats!
We usually begin with the jellyfish, thinly sliced pork hocks and cuttlefish appetizer. Our favorite dishes to order from the main menu are the roast duck, roast pig, deep fried stuffed tofu, duck feet braised in a dark sauce with veggies, heads-on fried shrimp, and the whole steamed fish. If you want lobster there is a minimum order of 2 and can be prepared with ginger and scallions or Cantonese style(sauce is darker then the typical egg-white sauce but is still tastes very good).
There are a few parking spaces in the front of the restaurant facing Georgia Ave. but they have their own private parking spaces in the rear of the restaurant. When the restaurant is very busy, we have had to park on the street or in the municipal parking lots.
