Description: A most charming dining spot, the Old Angler's Inn has been immortalized in countless Washington D.C. novels as a romantic winter getaway, sitting before the fireplace and perusing the menu. It is equally glorious in the summer when the main action moves to the incomparable terrace.

We were hiking the Billy Goat Trail with a large group. We called the restaurant around noon and asked if they could handle a large group around 1:30pm. They said they would do their best. 36 of the 48 people in our group decided to go to lunch. The restaurant was able to place us on the back patio. I thought this was amazing to get us all seated on a beautiful spring day with basically no notice! The food was basically sandwiches and that was perfect for us.
The live music was really good too?
I don’t know if it was the owner or manager but he said if we gave them enough notice they could prepare a better menu on our next visit.

Very happy with our experience at the Old Anglers Inn. We were seeking out a historic Tavern or Inn for dinner experience. Having been to some of the popular historic locations in the city, we decided to try this place. The Inn dates back to 1860 and has been operating as a restaurant for the past 50+ years. The ambiance is super-quaint in a nice wooded setting outside of the town of Potomac (easily accessed from the beltway),. We were promptly seated and served. Entrees were appropriately priced for the quality. Service was good. Food was very good.

We had a business meeting at Old Angler's Inn last Fall. The food and service were terrific. The wine was very good. We sat near the big fireplace on the first floor. We will return.

We actually liked this place so much we went back three times over the holiday -- menu was great , service great, a roaring fire and good food n drinks makes for a great dinner and Sunday brunch place. It really is a gem, and off the main road so to speak. highly recommended .

OAI, as they are known, is a fabulous place to go for lunch or dinner or just to relax with drinks. What a delightful setting and one that will impress the friends you take there. Located steps from the popular C&O Canal, where you have endless miles of hiking trails, OAI is a great place to relax after a long day outside. You can sit outside, inside or out back in the beer garden and tent. The inside is quaint old feel with a fireplace usually going. There is an upstairs dining room as well. Out door fire pits warm you up in the fall and winter. Staff is well trained and professional. Small bar area with about ten stools. Reservations for inside a good idea. I would dress nice casual. Sunday pre-fix two course meal for $32 caesar salad and eggs benedict. Bathrooms clean and parking available. this place is GREAT!
