Very very good. This place has a plain atmosphere but absolutely delicious food. We had an amazing shrimp sautéed in garlic, herbs, butter & white wine appetizer, creamy fisherman's chowder (with crab, shrimp & clams), snow crab clusters, linguini with shrimp in a similar white sauce as the appetizer and sautéed soft shell crabs. Everything was super delicious here.

Having a yen for seafood while in Chesapeake City my husband, daughter and son-in-law headed to The Taproom. We originally thought of crabs but opted for fried oysters and crab cakes which came accompanied with bay fries and Cole slaw. Good choices since crabs weren't in season and pricey this time of year. Will return for crabs in summer. Bar room was practically empty but it was

Call ahead if you're interested in crabs and ask for what sizes. We called and they had large crabs from Texas. Upon arriving, sat in the bar area. Smell was great. Crabs steamed and coated with seasoning. Order the fries as well and begin the fun. Enjoyed crabs for almost 2 hours. No rush and if you get a bad crab, they exchanges, no questions. Others had different entrees and all seemed pleased. I stick with the crabs. Well worth it for me. In season for MD crabs, this is the place. Crabs are large and heavy. Always go for the heavy crabs. Enjoy.

I've been back to the Taproom a few times recently and have found the place to be a relaxed environment with pretty good food. Service was good and prices reasonable. The clientele is friendly.

We stopped in Chesapeake City while delivering a yacht to upstate New York at the Chesapeake Inn Restaurant and Marina. The restaurant connected to the marina has an upscale eatery upstairs and a deck along the water serving lighter menu selections. We were not impressed with the menu(s) so instead decided to tour the funky older section of Chesapeake City. This is a really neat place to visit as it is filled with many nicely restored older homes. Right up the main drag is the Tap Room. This is a locals place and very casual. We had the Maryland Crab soup and a fish dinner. Everything was good and tasty. The server was friendly, food served quickly and we enjoyed ourselves. Only downside, only takes cash. And who carries that anymore? Fortunately we had enough to pay the bill. Next time we pass through we probably will stop here again.
