We happened upon this place while driving through Cambridge looking for a coffee place. This place hit the spot. It is an old storefront made over into a bakery and cafe. We were cheerfully greeted by the cashier. After looking into the display case we chose an apple dumpling and two lattes. The server said I’ll bring them to our table and asked if we wanted to have the pastry warmed.
Great pastry, coffee and service. The tables around us were enjoying breakfast and everything looked good.

We were beginning to despair when we got to Cambridge that we would have to go to Denny's. Then we found Black Water Bakery. Very good breakfast options and wonderful breads and pastry. A bonus is that you can see the bakery kitchen from the dining area. We were amazed at a giant tub of croissant dough that had risen and was waiting to be punched down.

We stopped in to grabbed some goodies for the road after Ironman Maryland and we were not disappointed. We bought a loaf of the banana nut bread and it is literally the best we have ever had! Omg. Heavenly. Also got some cinnamon scones that were awesome. Too bad we didn’t have time to sit and eat as it was totally adorable. Next time!!!!

From the historic building & high ceilings to the old farm house vibe, I loved the atmosphere of this small cafe. The coffee was a nice medium roast that tasted like it had just been brewed for me.
My friend and I tasted the blueberry muffin sample when we first entered the cafe, and thought if it was any indicator of the food, we'd be in for a treat. The breakfast burrito was tasted, but the scrambled eggs made it a bit watery at the bottom. The hash browns were crispy, just the way I like them. My friend's bacon, onion, and cheese omelette was delicious and the arugula salad good, but could have used a touch more dressing to cut the bitterness of the arugula.
