We stop at Morse's every time we visit the mid-Coast Maine area. We just love the store and always bring home several pints of their sauerkraut to eat and to freeze for later use in cooking. And we always get a container of half-sour pickles. We like the garlic and the sour-mustard varieties as well. But the half-sours are our favorites.
This year, for the first time, we got to the store at lunch time specifically to try the restaurant. Good food and plenty of it; generous servings. I had the spinach salad and he had the wurst dogs with sauerkraut and coleslaw. The pickle jars on the table are a fun touch and we enjoyed trying all the different mustards. We had the hot mulled cider which was generously portioned and held its temperature well. Two thumbs up. We'll return.
We were sorry to miss the breakfast; poor planning on our parts. We hope they'll offer breakfast all day and suggested it.
