After leaving a previous rental home of over 3000 square feet, I started to wonder if this Tenants Harbor Ocean front two bedroom Cottage would be like spending three days in a closet, relatively speaking. NOT!... We loved it! Seriously.
I go for value and what I affectionately called the "Cozy Cabin" is just that, a good value. This clean, (and we looked), neat and nicely decorated home has everything you need for wonderful sunsets, ocean tidal exploration and is a good jump off point for everything the area has to offer.
Mind you, it was just the two of us and it was quite a surprise at how much we enjoyed this fine little rustic home.
The only issues we had were very minor. First, we could not find a proper sized frying pan cover to fit the large pan and second, the internet service was not available at the time. The internet service is not good for most of the residents living in the area, so it's not the fault of the owners at all.. So I just used my cell phone to laptop, problem solved. The owners Craig and Jill are nice people who live nearby and are separated from the cabin by distance and a large thick gathering of trees and tall bushes so privacy was never an issue but is nice if you would ever have any issues.
Yes, I found this rental to be an excellent value for couples and their children.
We booked this very nice cottage on the water in Midcoast for a kayak, bike vacation over the July holiday. Our hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is well appointed with nice furniture and appliances including full size stove and fridge, and comfortable queen bed (we didn't use the twin beds). Pots/pans and dishes are in good shape, and there is a nice mix of utensils in the kitchen. Bring your own condiments for cooking, although there are some spices there. When we arrived, internet access was not working, but I notified Craig who took care of it immediately and we had good access the rest of the week using an iPad for yelping and exploring food and activities in the area. We put kayaks in directly from the property into quiet water in the cove (no low dock, so you will get your feet wet depending on tides). As with many coastal properties, it's best to be within roughly ninety minutes of high tide to put in. You can leave your boats near the shore as it's a private road. Plenty of fish and lobster to eat within a short drive when you don't feel like cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
everything you need for a vacation, the only thing you need is clothing and food. beds were hard but overall great experience. would go back
Sweet cottage in private area with ocean views! Open living room with tv, wifi, sofa, dining table (4 chairs available) and kitchen area with refrigerator, stove, micro. coffee maker, & kitchen utensils/pans (even napkins, paper towels, & spices). Panoramic westerly views overlook ocean and accessible dock available to tenant. Bring your canoe or kayak! Back bedrooms (1 with queen and 1 with twins) have comfortable and attractive linens. Fans and heat available, too. Guidebooks/brochures about area provided, as is reading material. These landlords have thought of everything, and this clean cottage in a perfect location was a pleasure to rent and is a short drive to Tenants' Harbor and Port Clyde for restaurants or to catch the Mohegan ferry. Not too far for a dinner out in Rockland, either. Also appreciated the landlords' no smoking, no pets policy as a person with allergies! As a former real estate owner who dealt with summer rentals in another market, this cottage definitely deserves a 5-star rating.

The cottage was comfortable and well-appointed. The sunset views were spectacular and the location was convenient to Portland, Bar Harbor, Booth Bay Harbor and Acadia. Jill and Craig were friendly and accommodating. We couldn't have had a better first visit to Maine.
