Following the highest rating of this summer’s Lobster Issue of Yankee magazine, we drove down to McCloon’s a couple of weeks ago. The drive was scenic and enjoyable. The Shack was tucked in behind a huge seafood processing facility (so typically Maine coast).
The crowds were large and parking was problematic, but that was probably in part due to both the PR from Yankee and a local painting class.. Despite all that, the we were served efficiently by the young staff who delivered our order right to our table.
The lobster rolls were indeed excellent (get with both!), and the sides were a bonus. From what I heard around me, I suspect the other menu items were of equal quality. The harbor scenery added a special flavor.
While it’s a bit difficult to get to, you cannot go wrong. It’s worth the trip. (See other Trip Advisor reviews which support this one.)
