My husband and I had a great one-night stay at The Danforth. The staff was very pleasant and friendly from the greeting to the goodbye. The room was very comfortable, even on a rainy day it was nice to have so many windows and a view of the street and water (we stayed in Longfellow Square- loved the arched window in the bathroom!). The common areas on each floor, the lounge, the billiard room and cupola provided comfortable spaces to relax or chat. There were so many little extras that made it special - turndown service with chocolates and slippers, robes in the room, complimentary prosecco on arrival, personalized breakfast menu. The location is perfect and is easily walkable to the Portland Museum of Art and a little longer walk to the Old Port. We had a lovely time and truly enjoyed our stay. The only part that seemed out of place was the music in the lounge that we could hear in our room on the third floor at night. The thump-thump of bass was a slight damper on an otherwise luxurious stay and it would have been nice to not to have to hear it in the room.

We loved staying at The Danforth. It exceeded our expectations even after looking at the website and reading the great reviews on this site. We enjoyed the attentive service by an amazing staff. Every detail in the design, art and furniture is unlike any other inn we have ever stayed at. The gourmet breakfast in the morning is always the very best. The breakfast team is on top of their game and really care about every item they prepare. We loved our stay and are looking forward to returning in the future. I would strongly urge you to try the Danforth. I know you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you can get a view of the bay do it.

Room was quite cozy on a very cold weekend. Continental breakfast starting at 7am included with room price was perfect. Staff could not have been friendlier. Great to stay in the West End with close enough walk to all.

I loved The Danforth! It's like a bed and breakfast but oh so much more. Each room is unique, and it's such a luxurious place to be. The on site restaurant was fabulous, and I loved sneaking up to the widow's peak for a view of the sea.

The staff was friendly, and this is such a nice little place still in Portland yet a tiny bit away from the beaten path and the hustle and bustle it brings. Lovely!

Room Tip: Any view is great, but if you can get one on the bay side, good for you!

This is quite simply an amazing property. The decor is a feast for the senses...original, whimsical, stylish and lovely. The common areas in particular are masterful--beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. The breakfast was a gourmet delight--every single day. But special kudos goes to the staff, particularly Diane, whose warmth and graciousness were enveloping and very, very special.
