This is quite simply an amazing property. The decor is a feast for the senses...original, whimsical, stylish and lovely. The common areas in particular are masterful--beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming. The breakfast was a gourmet delight--every single day. But special kudos goes to the staff, particularly Diane, whose warmth and graciousness were enveloping and very, very special.

This is a lovely, intimate, immaculate hotel. Every thoughtful touch from champagne before dinner, fire set in the fireplace and turn down service with chocolate and slippers. Attentive and professional staff

We stayed at the Danforth for a get-away weekend in Portland and it was perfect. The rooms are beautiful and so comfortable. The public spaces (dining room and bar and sitting area) are beautifully designed. The art is fascinating and it is a pleasure to be in the hotel. We could not recommend this hotel more highly. The team was also so friendly and helpful.

The Danforth is a wonderful place to stay in Portland. The lounge and bar is relaxing and beautiful. Matt the bartender created excellent cocktails and mocktails. The breakfast is delicious. The Rijsttafel dinner is best described as Indonesian dim sum - flavorful, exotic and delicious. The location is perfect - away from the bustle of old port, but a short walk to the Portland Art Museum, the movie theater and the Old Port section with its boutiques and restaurants. We were so pleased with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and are looking forward to a return visit to a great boutique inn.

We had planned an overnight en route from Maine to Boston ( in part to reschedule a previously planned getaway for which a conflict arose) and due to the blizzard determined to stay another day and night. It was so incredibly restorative! I have never had such an attentive staff. They even periodically cleaned snow off our car- above and beyond. They kept the Inn fully functional. We had a dura flame log in our room fireplace, enjoyed curling up with a book in the beautiful lounge. Two nights at Temple Dulu- the food, wine and SERVICE were perfection.
Also I must add I am Generally not a fan of new “ hip” decor- too white, or worse gray, and slate . However the very upscale and beautifully executed interiors in all areas of the Inn were delightful - not the least the live moss lamp shade gaming over the center of the federal entry hall.

The blizzard made it so insular and cozy and the Inn truly rise to the occasion. Finally although dinner is expensive it was a great value. Cannot wait to return. Location is amazing when Town is open.
