“Surprisingly good food.”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

My lunch at JJs was surprisingly good, with plenty of it at a reasonable price. I had their luncheon stuffed roast pork. The pork was good, the stuffing home made, plenty of good mashed potato and broccoli, and delicious gravy. The place isn't the fanciest place in the world, but the food makes it worth trying.

“Nice Choices - Attentive Staff”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

For a very locals oriented full service restaruant in the heart of "downtown" OOB this place has something for everyone. In the off season, free parking, in season, no so lucky. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have tried all 3 over various times. This trip it was lunch - very nice home made soups - which is typical. On Saturday's a special seems to always be Sheppard's Pie - which one of us had. He said it was quite good - portion was about right for that time of day. Another had vegetable turkey soup - it too was full of flavor and tucket/vegetables. The other of us had fish stew - with Haddock, among the best throughtout the Portland/southest part of Maine. The server was excellent - which we have very much come to expect from JJ's. Oh yes, during certain times of the day they have a Bloody Mary bar - nice touch and you do your own thing if you wish. Do not expect fine dining, but enjoy a truly enjoyable meal in a sit down setting a block off the beach.

Ate both lunch and dinner here over our stay. Everything was excellent. Decent service but great food. Price was fair for the quality.

“an offseason delight ... very nice people and food”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

My wife and i took an offseason trip up the coast of maine ... very pretty and very closed ... after finding a hotel that was open (The Sandpipper) the clerk recomended JJ's ... For a closed area they were doin a fair bussiness on a cold feb monday. our server was very personable the food was fresh and the owner was around and treated us like old friends ... we both had seafood entrees that were out of this world and more than reasonably priced ... they had a salad with calamari but didnt notice it as app. ... when asked the server didnt hesitate goin to the kitchen and askin if we could get it as app ... 5 mins later we enjoyed some suculent calamari cooked perfect ... we dont leave NH to go to maine often but we will now just to eat there.
