My fellow traveler is craaaaazy for lobster. On our first trip to ME many years ago she had lobster in one form or another at every meal for three days not counting breakfast! We summered in ME for twelve years and our local lobster pound knew us like family. She is back in ME for the first time in six years, we are staying just outside Camden and we needed to find great lobster. Chez Michel in Lincolnville more than fit the bill!

Drove around to several places to scope them out before making our choice. On the board outside Chez Michel was their special - 2 lb soft shell lobsters for the same price as other places were charging for 1.5 or 1.75 lb lobs. Easy decision! Great decision!

Sat upstairs with a wonderful view of the harbor and ferry dock. Dinners came with salads (very tasty bleu cheese dressing) and a baked potato. Lobster served with drawn butter - not the butter/oil combo you get at some places. Everything was EXCELLENT! Large and varied menu that we would love to explore, but next time. Tonight was all about lobster.

Best Dinner of the Entire Week of eating all over Maine. We had two different Haddock dinners and did a bit of sharing. OMG...best flavors. You can eat Lobster anywhere along the coast, but really try the Haddock Mueniere (my choice), or the Blackened Haddock. Had some great Santa Margarita white wine, too. You will spend 40 each with wine. Worth it.

Our first experience on Tuesday was so positive we returned on Thursday! Everything was delicious. My husband ordered lobster both times. The service was very friendly and efficient!

We arrived around 7 pm and we told the upstairs was full and we could have a lengthy wait. the hostess could tell we were a little disappointed but we chose to stay on the first floor (lacks the view). Once we were seated she quickly came back and told a table had opened up. In our opinion, the best on the floor, corner with a lovely view of the harbor across the street.

She started with a ceasar salad, nothing spectacular but the dressing is homemade, thick and had a great flavor. I had the French onion soup which was not overdone with trying to make it something it isn't like other places, it was simple, full of onions , not salty, nice broil on top, perfect for me. The warm bread is nice, my only issue, the butter is too firm, should be softer to spread.

She had the boneless duck breast and loved it. We have been to Paris and she had duck anywhere she could. Not quite Parisien duck but very close, she ate every bit and the sauce was excellent. The Croquettes also were 'divine' in her words. I had the beef tenderloin filet and it was one of the best I've had. cooked perfectly throughout, great flavor by itself but I asked for both béarnaise and au poivre. Both sauces are fantastic.

A great thing about Maine, you can order a bottle of wine and what you don't drink you can take with you. Earlier in the day we had been to a tasting a Cellardoor Winery. They have many varieties at Chez Michel so we ordered some.

Lastly, our waitress, didn't get her name, but a young Asian girl was so pleasant, made eye contact, smiled and checked on us frequently as we took our time for dinner.

Next time we are in the area Chez Michel is a definite. Give it a try :-)
