We recently stayed at Breakwater Inn for a weekend away. The room and the view were perfection. The staff was also quite friendly without being in your face. The room was also very clean. I was surprised that the sidewalk between the parking lot and the inn building was not shoveled so we had to walked in the road at night with our luggage. The breakfast in the morning was simple and great. The staff was really helpful with helping us get some early morning coffee. We would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: Splurging for the room with the porch is 100% worth it!

Recently, four members of my family stayed at the Breakwater Inn and Spa in Kennebunkport. What a let down.

First of all, three of us were 70 or older, and they put us in rooms near the top of the Inn -- with three and four flights of ridiculously challenging stairs to climb. And no one even offered to help us with our luggage. Also, their website says Kennebunkport village is "just a short stroll" away from the hotel. Problem is, it’s a mile or more. NOT a short stroll.

On the second night, fire alarms went off and firemen came roaming the halls. There was no smoke, but we called downstairs for information. Apparently there was not a
single staff person on the property to answer.

The breakfast room didn't open until 8:00 A.M. and the bar closed at 9:00 P.M. -- this is a resort hotel! Many travelers wake earlier than that, AND stay up later.

At these prices, the experience should be very much about the details. But none of the hotel staff seemed to care a bit about the details. In fact, what staff? We never even saw any staff, except at check-in and checkout. And that person seemed to care less about how disappointed we’d been.

The folks in the restaurant and bar area were nice. But otherwise, our stay was pretty much a complete waste of time – and money.

I have never been to a hotel or inn where I felt more welcomed and pampered. Just by mention of it was our anniversary we arrived to find a bottle of champagne waiting for us. We come here every year to celebrate our anniversary as Christmastime is a magical time to visit. As we are locals, we also know that people visiting our wonderful town are very happy to stay here!

Room Tip: Opt for a "water view" room, it is worth it!

Our family was in Kennebunkport for a wedding and couldn't have been more delighted to have this weekend be the beginning of Prelude! Our hotel was just right within walking distance to see the lighting of the Christmas Tree and visit with family and friends. Our room was comfortable, breakfast delicious and would stay again. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: Not sure of other rooms.

We were there for the Kennebunkport Christmas prrelude, the hotel is one mile out of town, which was an easy walk, the rooms were clean and lovely, a continental breakfast was served which was good the spa was excellent, I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet place.
