The view of the river behind the motel is nice. Most of the people staying here were for business purposes. The motel office closes at 10 pm and they tell you to call the local police if you have any problems during the night. This is a 1950's hotel caught in the 21st century. Even with these comments I would stay here again if I was in the area as they really have no competition. It was very quiet here although you can hear the people in the rooms around you.

Room Tip: Ask to view the river!

Business in Canada brought us to Calais for a couple of days. We stayed here because of it's location. Comfortable and clean room. Excellent shower, new TV and a wonderful restaurant next door. Don't do much business in this area but will stay here again the next time I have business there. We also took the time to visit Acadia National Park. Well worth the visit and the drive.

We stopped here to find a room for the night and are glad we did stop. We reserved a river view room on the second floor. This was a nice room with a good view of the river. Every thing in the room worked.

Room Tip: river view, first or second floor.

Located on route 1 is this motor lodge. It has two parallel wings adjacent to the road and a two level end block set into the river bank that overlooks the Saint Croix River to Canada. With clean spacious rooms we had a very good nights sleep. A path runs along the river bank and provided a very pleasant stroll first thing in the morning looking at Canada as it also woke to another day.

Room Tip: Pay a few dollars more the view of Canada and less noise.

We spent 2 nights at the International Motel, once on our way into Canada for our Nova Scotia Honeymoon, and again on our way home. It was a clean room and we slept very comfortably. The pipes were a bit noisy depending on the room. We plan to stay here again during all future trips over the boarder.

Room Tip: Basic room at great cost!
