Cozy and lovefully mainteined inn in a tiny village with nice people. Representative of american founders spirit. Free parking, clean, simple but quite good breakfast. Good point to visit that maine region.

About 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and half the price, with very pleasant staff and a great restaurant right across the street. View of Penobscot is pretty, and the drive to Bar Harbor is a way to take in the sights of the rest of the area. Beware: some of the booking sites list the standard rooms as two queens, but these beds are only available in the queen suites. Our rooms turned out to have two long doubles. Not an insurmountable problem, but you might want to book directly with the hotel to be sure you get what you want. Breakfast is a bit skimpy, but McDonalds is right down the street, and a nearby dockside grill has an extensive menu. Superb restaurant right across the street. Harbor view is very pretty, especially with the windows cranked open and the breeze coming in.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a waterfront view!

We were up doing college orientation at Maine Maritime and figured this would be the closest town with all the amenities. Hotel was right on the water with an amazing view of the gorgeous bridge and the historic fort. Lovely pedestrian path along the water directly below us. And McClouds restaurant directly across the street. It is exactly what we had hoped having brought my elderly parents. Street level room was perfect.

The hotel itself was average but clean. Bed was above average comfortable for an older hotel. Cutest grandmother checked us in. All very friendly. Super convenient parking. Def our go to place for college drop off weekend in the fall and beyond. No complaints.

Fort Knox Inn - Bucksport, Maine is perfect on so many levels: Location to area sites, beautiful walking trail by the water with many plaques & signs explaining the history of Bucksport & its people, spacious room with a water view of Fort Knox & the Prospect Narrows Bridge, friendly & helpful staff & a very secure building. My family & I plan on staying at the Fort Knox Inn, whenever we are in the Bucksport, Maine area!

I selected this Inn for it's charm and proximity to several places in the area that I wanted to visit, including the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Coffee was excellent! Reasonably priced, as well.
