really the most excellent cookies! The kind of place with couches and couples together but each engrossed in their iPads for hours, oblivious to the other. Sort of a coffee cafe hangout.

“Good Coffee, High Prices”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

Great Place to get a coffee in the morning, prices seem on the high side compared to other places I have been. Staff is nice and helpful.

“This is what Starbucks tries to be”
Reviewed 25 December 2011

As the title says, this is what Starbucks tries to be, but Little Dog does it without trying.
I met friends here the other day for the first time and was impressed. This is the cozy, welcoming, locally-owned, busy coffee/pastry shop that you hope to find in every town. In Brunswick, this is the place. A variety of seating with people engaged with each other over coffee or people engaged with their Macbooks, this place was full on a snowy and icy morning in December. Friendly service at the counter reveals to me that the staff isn't "too
cool" to smile or to laugh with customers as orders are promptly taken and filled. That was also a nice surprise. Well done. 5 big barks for the Little Dog.

“Looking for breakfast, lunch, or a place to roost with your laptop & a good cup of coffee? This is the place!”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

Forget Starbucks! Try this local place on Maine Street in Brunswick instead. I work at home but when I am in Brunswick for other reasons like my morning Pilates class (check it out, too, Pilates on Maine--great instructors!, lovely studio in a classic Main Street three-story), I grab one of a large variety of Fair Trade coffees here (in my chartreuse Little Dog travel mug) and roost with my laptop for a few hours (free WiFi, several convenient places to plug in). In the meantime, I can get a freshly prepared breakfast-an egg sandwich or a bagel with cream cheese or a "humonguous" freshly-baked muffin, etc. If I stay through lunch, I can grab any of various types of wraps (meat and vegetarian), or one of a variety of salads, or one of the unique and tasty panini sandwiches (try the new roasted beet panini with feta cheese, yummy!). In between, there are many snack/dessert/drink options such as (again, humonguous) cookies and brownies (baked on the premises to lure lingering patrons in, of course), and fruit juices, including various types of coconut juice. This is the the local hangout for "work-at-homers", Bowdoin students/ professors/parents/ grandparents, writers, and non-profit staffers. Teacher/student conferences, parents & grandparents catching up on the lives of their college students, and impromptu greetings/meetings create a pleasant din and a kind of "white noise" for Bowdoin students deep into their books, "work-at-homers", and people in the sofas at the front just relaxing with their feet up on the coffee table. The line-up for coffee can get very long at certain times of the day but the staff are friendly and unflappable and the coffee is worth the wait. You can also buy a bag of your favorite brew to take home, along with a Little Dog travel mugs (small or large) in your favorite color.
