“Excellent first Maine experience!”

Excellent accommodations. Beautiful weather. Tasty seafood options abound. Limitless shopping options. Peaceful location. Encourages family interaction and bonding. Pet friendly. Wonderful nature-walk and waterfront/beach combing options. The cabin met every family members need/wants. It was well stocked for an enjoyable stay. If the weather is not cooperating, there is plenty to do indoors to pass the time until it does. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I would gladly rent this property again in the future, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others wanting privacy and relaxability- but yet many options to keep each person very busy if activity is their preference. The owner was easy to reach, and had excellent communication both prior to booking, after booking, prior to arrival, and after arrival. There is nothing negative I could say about our experience- other than it was too short. A splendid time was had by all!

“Quiet, spacious, and comfortable”
Reviewed 13 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We rented Water's Edge for ten days. The locale with the view of the river from almost every room invited relaxation. On sunny days we explored a number of nearby peninsulas and got lobster rolls from both Red's Eats and Sprague's in Wiscasset as well as sandwich lunches from other take-outs to eat picnic style by various harbors. On rainy days, we hung out and did jigsaw puzzles and read. There was also time for shopping at some favorites, like both Sheepscot River Pottery and Edgecomb Pottery -- way more than pottery at both places. With Adirondack chairs and the patio table and chairs and the screened in porch chairs as well as the indoor family room space, we had lots of choices for hanging out and relaxing, gazing at the water and reading. Having a bath with each bedroom was also a nice plus. The few questions we had upon arrival were quickly answered electronically by Connie, and Garth was very personable when he came by to check on the gas fireplaces. Our friends who stayed overnight on the weekend also remarked about what a pleasant place it was. Thanks for the lovely stay. We would definitely come back.

“Beautiful, well cared for cottage ion Westport Island”
Reviewed 7 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The cottage was clean, well maintained and totally as presented in the description. We enjoyed beautiful sunny days, sitting overlooking the river, driving to the farmers market to get the best fresh produce and cooking on the pit door grill. Perfect spot to relax and chill.

“Great Location- Great Cottage- Great Owners- Highly Recommend”

My husband and two other couples spent a week at this cottage in September. It was one of the best vacation spots and cottages we've ever rented. We are seasoned travelers and have rented through many rentals sites including this one and this was one of the best experiences we've had. The owners were extremely helpful and always answered our emails very quickly. They even made special arrangements for an early check in so that we could start enjoying our vacation sooner. The cottage is exactly as pictured and described on the site. Its 3 nice bedrooms and 3 private bathrooms were perfect for us. We spent most of our time outside on the Adirondack chairs and the screen porch. We saw working lobster boats and ospreys. We even saw a bald eagle once. One of our favorite things to do was to walk down to the lobster co-op and buy lobsters from the local lobstermen. Best lobster I've ever eaten. The location of Westport Island was ideal. Just a short drive and you can get to Boothbay Harbor, Reid State Park, and Freeport. We ventured out almost every day but couldn't wait to get back to the cottage to relax. Most nights we steamed lobsters or cooked on the grill. I would highly recommend this cottage and these owners. We will definitely return next year.

“Great Vacation Place”

Myself, wife, youngest adult son, and brother and sister-in-law spent an awesome time at Water's Edge retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very spacious. With three bedrooms and three baths we had ample room for everybody. We did not feel cramped at all.

When we arrived, the cottage was all prepared for our arrival. The cottage is in great shape, nicely decorated and stocked with the necessities. There are great views of the river from the cottage.

The location was perfect, secluded (very serene and quiet) and convenient (close to restaurants and sights). There are several great places to eat nearby. Our favorites include, J.R. Maxwell, Beale St BBQ, Sea Dog Brewery, Frosty's Donuts, and Moody's Restaurant. As for sights, we went as far north to Bar Harbor (about a 2 1/2 hr drive) and Acadia National Park to down south to Portland (less than an hour).

The floating dock was in the water, so we were able to launch our kayaks from the platform and paddle up and down the river. We tried our hand at fishing for stripers at the rivers edge, but were a couple of weeks to early. Damariscotta Lake is nearby and was a great place for freshwater fishing.

We were able to meet the owners, who are friendly and gracious. They made every effort to make sure our stay met our expectations. In fact, our stay at Water's Edge exceeded our expectations. We certainly highly recommend Water's Edge Retreat. Our only disappointment is that our vacation had to end.
