The Dockside is not dockside, are they trying to be something they are not? Average lunch, service was good, staff was good. Better choices in the area.

We ate lunch here on October 4, 2017 as we drove up the coast looking for the Fall colors. This is one of the best places we ate at in Maine. The food was excellent, at a fair price, and view from the deck on a warm October day. The waitress told us they had hired two new cooks. They were good.

We were just an elderly couple looking for a good quiet dinner in Belfast. We did not want a loud music, smoke filled bar, or a "modern menu" type place. After driving around town, looking over our choices of places for dinner, we decided on the Dockside- probably influenced by the words "Family Restaurant". In a town full of "quirky" places to drink and dine, this appeared to be a delightfully down to earth- no frills- just good food and friendly service eatery. We were not disappointed We arrived after 7pm and found a good crowd of what appeared to be locals, enjoying dinner and sitting inside and sitting outside on the deck. We were quickly and warmly greeted and told that it was not at all too late to order dinner. We'd not eaten since noon and we were hungry. My husband ordered fettuccine with mussels and I had fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The plates that arrived were huge! Atop his pasta, we counted 60 beautiful, sweet, medium sized mussels- yes, 60!!!
My equally large serving of pasta was full of beautiful white chicken in a delicious, creamy, cheese sauce. We could not eat it all, but managed to finish top it off with a slice of blueberry pie!
Quantity is not always a good sign of quality, and we do not like or dislike a restaurant based on the size of their servings, but it always nice to feel that you have gotten your money's worth. These dishes were delicious and the price was very reasonable. We liked it so much that we returned the next morning and enjoyed a perfect breakfast and great coffee served out on the deck, overlooking the water.

We have eaten on the deck here before and enjoyed the meal so we figured we could get a quick dinner here after a long drive. On a weekday night with the place maybe 30% full the food took 40 minutes to arrive (and only came after I chased down a waitress and asked "Where is our food?") The scallops were undercooked and rubbery and the french fries were stone cold, salad was a couple of limp leaves in a bowl. The haddock BLT was drenched in salt. For the type of restaurant and the location, it was overpriced for what you got. I got the impression that everything from the floor up was in need of a good scrub.

Had a great meal along with my wife and a friend. All three meals were good and the price was very reasonable.
