Dear Kievaanderson99, we are truly sorry your room was not as it should have been upon your arrival. We appreciate your feedback, letting us know where we need improvement. We are under new ownership and are completing several renovation projects now, with more to come-including the corridors and guest rooms. We hope to have another opportunity to be of service to you. Must admit - I was apprehensive about staying here after reading so many negative reviews. But I'm an IHG Rewards member and wanted the points. I expected a smelly dump but the hotel was just fine! The front desk staff were helpful and nice; the room was clean and comfortable. Yes, the hotel needs an updating (carpet a bit worn) but apparently that's planned under new ownership. One problem arose -- after I showered the tub wouldn't drain so my wife couldn't shower. The front desk folks gave me a plunger as I requested but all that did was bring up old hair and scum from the drain. The gave me another room on the floor for my wife to use to shower so that helped. Upon checkout, I spoke with the Manager, Christine, and she gave us a $50 adjustment to our bill. That was appreciated.

Room tip: Check your tub drain after you check in to make sure it works.

We stayed at 6 other hotels on our way to and back from New Brunswick. All hotels had "non smoking" and we abided by this rule. However, when we arrived at this facility we asked to be close to an exit and on the first floor as we were smokers. Knowing we were from Ontario and leaving the next day, we were targeted to be charged their 200.00 fee for smoking in the room. We DID NOT smoke in the room. What a CON JOB. We were never targeted at any of the other hotels we stayed at. Beware of this hotel. We stayed at:
The Amsterdam Inn in Moncton
Best Western in Gatineau
Ramada Inn
Woodland Suite in Hopewell cape
Holiday Inn
Another Best Western
Not ONE complaint about smoke as we DID NOT smoke in any of the hotels. ONLY the Holiday Inn

Room tip: If you are a smoker... BEWARE

We stayed here for the night on trip home from PEI to Ontario. Smell of pot in hallways was bad enough in the evening and even in the morning...but when we settled in for the night our bathroom smelled like the inside of a bong. Other guests must have been smoking in their bathrooms and smell was filtering into ours. Called the front desk but was told they can’t do anything unless they have physical evidence. What??? They offered to change our rooms but who wants to do that after you’re already in bed? This is not a “Smoke free” hotel in my opinion. Very disappointing

Hi Heather M,

Thank you so much for your feedback and for staying with us. As one of our valued visitors, your feedback is very important to us as it aids our hotel in continuous improvement.

It is of great concern that the overall hotel and room aroma was disturbing. Please know that the staff really do their best to diligently clean the room and accommodate our guest's queries. Forgive us, they were unable to meet the demands. Our goal is to ensure every guest has a positive experience, the management team will empower our staff to attend to our guest's needs without hesitation.

If your travel brings you to the area in the future, we hope you give us another chance. Again, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Best,

From family members that also stayed here, it sounds like some rooms have been renovated, but many still are in desperate need of tender-loving-care. Our one night stay here to begin our trip had us standing in ankle-deep water while trying to shower; attempting to tweak our thermostat (warmer, warm, cool, cooler - on a dial/knob with fan speed of low, medium and high) ... not easy to get a comfortable, consistent temperature. Cracks in ceiling and walls.
On the plus side it was clean and the staff was pleasant.
On the one-night stay upon departure; room was much the same but the shower drain worked - no standing in water.
Another plus - Dunkin Donuts is right next door.
