Well organized museum! The staff was really friendly and sweet!
There's a sentence on the exterior wall, and this brought tears to my eyes and it makes me want to visit the museum even more. The sentence is : The Only Meaningful Legacy We Will Leave This World Will Be The Difference We Made In Others, Especially In The Life Of A Child.
We loved everything, but since my husband and me were reading every sign, we didnt had enough time to visit. Our sons who are 10 and 8 years old, really enjoyed it, and had the time to visit the museum 3-4 times! So if you don't read everything it can be a quick visit, but if you want to read everything, then allow at least 4 hours.
I brought my camera, as usual, but we had to take pictures with the flash off, it's a bit dark so, some pics are blurry, so be sure to bring your tripod.
Hubby and I will be back to continue our visit. It was really interesting to see all these old things and especially to read about them. It's not only written " Fire truck built in 1907" it's also written about its history with the State of Maine. Also who donated this or that!
Also there is a memorial for the World War II outside the museum, which is really touching.
The staff were really friendly, especially a man, we talk together for a long time! He was fun and sweet! Be sure to talk with him...I'm sad to not even know his name...

Well organized historyto the transportation industy of the state of Maine and a tribute to the workers who accomplished so much. Includes archival pictures of the CCC building roads and logging history. As the museum was founded by the owners of Cole Transportation..a major company in the area, it documents much of their history as well. Includes full size deisel rr engine box car and caboose w/interactive displays for all ages to enjoy. Poignant tributes inside buildings and bronze statues outside to the members of the armed forces Picnic tables and covered bridge would make for a nice family outing..children are free!!

I thought this would be a nice museum for my husband, but I enjoyed it completely. The docents are most friendly. helpful, and knowledgeable. I would recommend this to anyone in the area. Well worth the price.

This museum has extensive collections of vehicles from cars to trains displayed. The snowplow and military sections are really interesting. Very well displayed and with pleasant staff.
