We thoroughly enjoyed our swamp tour (btw a swamp is a flooded forest). We went into this a bit disappointed that we had not lined up an airboat. Dr. Wagner's Honey Island Tours take place in boats that hold about 15 or so tourists. We had a blast. We saw alligators (although being March the water was still cold so the alligators were on the smaller side). But the rest of the wildlife and fauna we saw was great. You will want to have a windbreaker and/or warm jacket because when the boat gets moving, it can be cold (and a bit wet). Traveled along a series of bayous. Saw terrific sights. Our guide Captain Steele was terrific.

Slidell is about 30 - 45 minutes from the French Quarter, depending on traffic -- it is on the other side of Lake Ponchatrain. Pretty easy to drive to. A cab or uber would have worked fine too. Unexpectedly amazing experience. Really get an appreciation for how the geography of great New Orleans has influenced its cooking and culture. Very unique geography and eco-systems. Fascinating.

What a fun swamp tour. We saw a bunch of alligators and our Captain said it is the best he has seen this season thus far as the alligators are getting more active now. We saw a couple of snakes (not poisonous), some raccoons, 2 wild pigs, great blue heron, ducks and some other birds and had a great time. Captain Steel? was great.

Highly recommend, knowledgable guide, lots of wild life, very exciting, would go again anytime!!! Excellent directions, very friendly staff. The whole experience was wonderful and would absolutely recommend Dr Wagner's over every other swamp tour.
