Myself and 2 friends go to New orleans every year for the Essence Festival 4th of July weekend. We waited too long to book our room and everything in the New Orleans area was booked/sold out. We decided to give the Marina a shot. The area may look a little shady because it is a small town but after speaking with the employees they made it clear that the city of Chalmette has NO crime. All the crime is in New Orleans. We stayed at the Marina for 6 nights with no issues. To our surprise, the room was very spacious and had a great layout. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The hotel staff as well as in the cafe that is connected to the hotel. I read reviews about the food not being good in the cafe but my friends and I ate breakfast there every morning and the breakfast was GREAT and very affordable. The beds were comfortable. It is in a quiet area. The pictures don't do justice. the pool is not as big as it looks in the pictures, it's small. (didnt get in though). The only downside is the drive into New Orleans was longer than we liked. We are however used to staying right in New Orleans. The commute is about 20 minutes into new Orleans. Overall, our stay was comfortable, enjoyable and we will stay here again in the future. Even though the commute was a little longer than we liked the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, comfort of room, good breakfast (didnt try anything else) and quiet area was enough for us to stay here again. I think if you give this place a try, you may be pleasantly surprised like we were.
