After a long drive from Florida and multi traffic jams we found ourselves in Richmond,
Kentucky. We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express but they were full so we tried
the Quality Inn. To our surprise it was great!! The staff was friendly and could not have been more helpful. We stayed in a suite, non-smoking room. We were worried when they told us they were a pet friendly hotel but our room was clean and no pet odours. We got a call from the front desk around 8:30 to make sure we had everything we needed. I have to mention one staff member - I believe his name was Dennis (maybe Kevin) who was on duty the evening of April 1st. He made us feel so welcomed and helped us find a place to have dinner and gave us instructions to other venues. The hotel is located in a great location for shopping and dining. The morning breakfast was good by hotel standards and again the staff was great.

The staff at this location were exceptional. Daily greetings by the General Manager to late night conversations with the Front Desk staff made me feel at home - including a discussion regarding physics and flight, my flight anxiety has almost disappeared (thank you Dennis!) My extended stay was for 7 weeks. The Housekeeping staff became friends during my stay. I highly recommend this Quality Inn and will plan my future travel to stay at this location.

The hotel staff was very friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable at an affordable price. Location is great and very convenient with access to many different restaurants, shops, movie theater and EKU. Not a 5 star hotel but if you are looking for an affordable place I highly recommend this place.

We rented for one night in order to sleep, clean up and eat after attending a performance at a local venue. It did the job. Unfortunately, in my haste to secure a room at a good price, I accidentally booked a smoking, double-bed room instead of our customary non-smoking, queen bed room.

The staff on duty when we checked in offered to ionize the room to remove smoke odor. We had to wait about an hour and a half to check in, but it was worth it. We could barely smell the smoke odors.

The internet connection was extremely slow when I tried to peruse Facebook, read and reply to emails, and read some online news articles. The desk chair at the little business desk was malfunctioning, sinking to the lowest seat setting whenever occupied.

The staff said that the mattresses were recently installed when we complained that they were too hard. Mine was a bit lumpy feeling.

The bathroom was small, but sufficed. The sink, vanity and mirror were outside the bathroom, which was a bit awkward, but worked out.

The room felt outdated, as if needing a facelift.

The breakfast was really nice, with cold and hot foods on the breakfast bar. We had sausage patties, eggs made well done, biscuits and sausage gravy. The sausage gravy was especially good, a light, tan color and it tasted done unlike the white gravy that tastes undercooked at most of these hotels. They had cold cereals, fresh fruit, little yogurt cups, cold, boiled eggs, milk, coffee, orange juice and hot water to make hot chocolate. I think that they had a waffle maker and might have had muffins and bagels, but I am not sure. We were watching carbs.

Overall, it was a nice stay and the staff was friendly and helpful. For the price, it was a decent stay. The management also contacted us by telephone and email later to make sure that we were satisfied.

One last note: Choice sent me a survey in which they asked if I were acknowledged as a Gold Member and I told them I was not. Unless the extra effort to deodorize the room was a sign of elite status?

Room tip: We were in room 331, toward the end of a hall, on the back of the hotel. It was quiet.

Hello Bernie,
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to leave us a detailed review. Our front desk agents try hard to accommodate our guests as much as possible. I apologize for the agent, who at the time of your check-in, did not formally recognize you for being a loyal Choice member. Truth be told, we was probably trying to figure out how to accommodate your requested room type, and our lack of availability. We were sold out the evening you stayed with us. We are however, in the process of going completely smoke-free.
I also apologize for internet connection issues you experienced while staying with us. We are aware of the issue and are working on the resolution. Regarding the condition of our rooms, we are also gearing up to start renovations and updating the hotel.
Lastly, I'm glad you enjoyed our breakfast! This is my favorite meal of the day, and we want all of our guests to have a delicious hot breakfast everyday.
I thank you once again for taking the time to leave us a review. Your valuable feedback helps us to make further improvements, and to provide a more enjoyable experience for all future guests. We hope to see you again soon!

Very pretty facade and it's very fitting for this area of Kentucky. Great location off the highway, with a Starbucks nearby. We were just passing through and this was a clean, nice place to stay. We had a room with 2 double beds. It's a little tight when the bathroom door is open, but we made it work. The sink was in the main room. The room was clean. Breakfast was good and there were 2 waffle makers, which made it easier for us to eat and get back on the road. They did have smoking rooms available. I had booked on Hotwire.com and it automatically picked a smoking room for us. Luckily there was an available nonsmoking room to which they allowed us to switch. Bottom line, I would recommend this Quality Inn as an affordable place to stay.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We are big on keeping everything clean here, and my housekeeping staff does a great job. We currently do have a limited number of smoking rooms in one section of the building, and we are planning on going 100% smoke free very soon. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us a review, and we hope to see you again the next time you pass through the Richmond area!
