Got to North End on Sunday a.m. just before the line started forming so we got seated right away. Service was very friendly and the food was very good--especially the uniquely seasoned gravy on the biscuits and gravy--seems to have some tarragon which is a nice touch. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the kitchen staff understood the request for bacon extra crisp (some places mistakenly think its a license to burn it). Portions were good sized and overall the experience was very good. Would definitely recommend this to anyone in the Louisville area (they also have another location).

Went there last night with a small party, the service was really good, but, the food was bland and the beer was warm, might go back for breakfast, kind of a clicky place where younger people go to socialize, they probably are not worried about the food.

I visited the North End Cafe with my husband and another couple last night for dinner and was very pleased. I had been there years ago for breakfast and remember it being good, but did not even know they served dinner. What a nice surprise! The do serve breakfast all day, which is a bonus, but they also have a pretty extensive menu of interesting and gourmet dinner offerings. I have a thing for chilaquiles (a Mexican casserole) which are not easy to find. Low and behold, North End had them on the menu. I ordered them and was very pleased. They could have used a little more salt, but other than that, they were excellent. Far better than the run of the mill versions you get at strip mall Mexican restaurants. My husband went out on a limb and had the chickpea and quinoa cake with vegetables. Wow. It was really good. Our friends had the reuben and the eggplant casserole. All were superb. The downside - I found the cocktails unpleasant. The pink panther was so sweet it was like cough syrup. Also, the ambiance is better suited to breakfast -- too many cold, hard surfaces, stiff chairs. Tablecloths would go a long way to changing things up for evenings.

We have a son in Louisville and we try to visit North End Cafe every time we visit.
Truthfully, have only eaten breakfast here but some of the regulars we talked to said lunch and dinner was just as tasty. Good coffee, good service and the best home fried potatoes I have ever eaten. The places on Market Street have all the reputation but we have no problem making the North End Cafe our destination for breakfast.
