“Returned to a different Lexington”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

I graduated from UK in 1996 and hadn't returned to the city since 1998. My husband and I wanted to try to get to a basketball game with our children ... what a delight to stay at the Hyatt Regency for this trip! As a student, it wouldn't have been a consideration, but with my family it was very nice. We walked out of the elevator to Rupp Arena for basketball action! We had room service and it was delicious! The food arrived timely and warm. We arrived for check-in early Friday evening (6pm?) and walked in to register without any issues. We were asked if we had a preference as to a floor (low or high?), and within minutes we were on our way to the 15th floor. We had the last room on the hall and never had any issues with noise. The hotel was pretty full due to the home game but we never felt squeezed out or put off by the crowds. The staff was attentive and easily accessible. Our children swam in the indoor pool and enjoyed themselves very much. It was a pleasant stay and a nice weekend get away. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Parking was free (self-parking); downtown location was close to everything; and the hotel itself was clean. GO CATS!

Thank you for your outstanding review and for making us aware of your family's experience staying with us for a UK home basketball game. As you noted in your review, the entrance to Rupp Arena is just steps from our lobby, so there is no more convenient place to stay when cheering on the UK Wildcats!

Lexington is very family friendly with the Children's Explorium and Children's Theatre located just across from the Hyatt on Main Street. Next winter bring the kids along for ice skating in Triangle Park, and a hot chocolate afterwards at our Starbucks counter in the BlueFire Grill.

We stay here a couple of times each year for easy access to Rupp Arena and Ky games. With that in mind we pay the higher price for the simple convenience of it all. Party, go to game, party some more. Easy and no chance of getting into trouble.

Thank you for your good review of our hotel. We agree that the Hyatt Regency should be your headquarters when coming to see the CATS play in Rupp Arena. Our lobby and our BlueFire Grill are just steps away from the entrance to Rupp.

This year's team is the best in years and Kentucky fans have been staying with us in record numbers. All we can say about that is "Go Big Blue!"

I stayed here for a convention and things were pretty much like they always are here. Decent staff, clean room, comfortable bed and a great location. There are a couple of good places to eat just across the street and they have skywalks so you don't have to fight traffic. I did the self park and it can be kind of a pain since you have to go to the back of the lot (the front is where the valet guys park? Go figure). But other than having to drag your luggage across the street it's not too bad. Not where I typically stay when in town due to it being kind of pricey, but if you have business downtown or a convention then it's worth the extra $$.

I stayed at the Hyatt for a company meeting during a UK home game, I was a little concerned about being able to rest because the hotel was full of fans and was pleasantly surprised at how well the staff handled the event. I had an excellent night rest without interruption. I was impressed how quickly the lobby/bar area went from being jam packed with excited fans to a very clean and organized area where I was able to enjoy visiting with colleagues. Excellent management and staff!
