Owner description: Experience 19th century plantation life at this historic compound where you can tour the mansion or "big house," see quarters where slaves lived, visit a smokehouse and other elements of daily life in the Old South.

An informative glimpse into Kentucky plantation life prior to the civil war. Our tour guide was new but she knew the history of the house and grounds, was very friendly and happy to answer questions. My grand-daughter asked her if it was haunted and she related a couple of things she had experienced on the premises. We were the last tour of the day so we were the only ones there, didn't get to visit the gift shop because it was closed before the tour was over. Was quite surprised at the slave quarters because they were much nicer than others I have seen and actually had some information about them. Nice display of period furnishings and was able to take a lot of pictures. An enjoyable tour for anyone that is interested in history.

I have been to Lexington many times but have failed to visit Waveland until today. It's an hour tour of the mansion and slave quarters. It's $7 for adults and $6 for seniors. It's well worth the time to visit this historic plantation owned by the Bryan family under 1894. The last descendant didn't handle his finances very well. Fortunately, the folks in the area came through to preserve it for us. Lucky us.

We were interested in seeing this beautiful home and it's buildings. I wanted to hear about its history. We did learn some things and we enjoyed seeing the property, particularly the slave quarters. But the tour guide was a little hard to follow. She told a lot of stories with a lot of dramatic pauses. She told stories that were hard to follow. I truly believe she knew a lot and loved her job but after an hour and a half I wanted to run out of the house screaming but I wasn't allowed because we had to stay with the group.

Enjoyed going through the house but didn't get to see as much of it as we would have liked. The tour guide was not very informative. Actually had to ask a lot of questions about things to get any information at all.

One of the best teas we've attended! Food was perfect and tea was expertly served. Cathy was a very engaging and informative docent. Tea is served on most Tuesdays at 2:00 and occasionally in the evening. Check website for other events and times. Reservations are needed. Cost is $30 per person; well worth it! A wonderful afternoon!
