Part of the reason for visiting Lexington was to visit the Henry Clay estate. We both like history, were able to get tickets through Tripadvisor and it was easy to get to from our motel north of the city. We had an excellent guide who gave a lot of information not only about the estate but about Henry Clay himself. The house is not the original but there's a story behind it that I'll let you discover when you visit. There is a small place to eat on the grounds which was convenient but not particularly impressive. We enjoyed the history, the friendly atmosphere and the lovely grounds.

Lovely tour of this “period” estate. I learned so much about the man whose time in the Senate was so crucial to our country. This is a much better way to learn history. Exterior architecture, estate grounds and furnishings are ver impressive. If people knew more about Henry Clay, there would be lines to get in. Located in a beautiful residential area, a fantastic stop!

Had a great tour! Toured on a Sunday afternoon, hours 1-4pm. Tours cost $12, which consist of an indoor tour. Grounds is free to walk around! An incredible old home!

We loved our tour. It was mid-afternoon, and we were the only 2 people on our tour. YAY!! We asked so many questions that I believe our tour lasted a few minutes longer than they planned. The guide was knowledgeable, and shared great stories of how many of the items were donated back to the home by people who had come to own them. The house was neat, clean, and period decorated. The indoor wooden shutter system was amazing. There is a little cafe offering sandwiches/salad but we were not there at mealtime. We enjoyed the grounds, especially the ice houses. I had never seen that before. Historical homes further south do not have them.
