I really enjoyed my stay at the Fairfield. The staff was very friendly and the rooms, though a bit small were very inviting and comfortable. The ambiance of the hotel is very nice and I really enjoyed the breakfast.

They have a nice courtyard area with a fire pit, and a bar. Once the area is finished being developed, and a restaurant or two added within walking distance, this would be a perfect alternative to the Hyatt.

Parking wasn't that much of an issue as the parking garage entrance is located next to the hotel. Floors 2-5 are for public parking though the 5th floor is specifically for the fairfield. I would definitely recommend staying at this property.

This is a nice hotel right downtown Wichita. The location makes it very easy to get on and off of the expressway. There is a very nice courtyard area (see attached picture) behind the hotel with running streams with fish.

The complimentary breakfast in the morning is typical Fairfield Inn fare. I actually noticed that the food was ready before 6am as it was advertised. The bar in the lobby is nice and had at least 4 tv screens.

There is not a great place to eat in walking distance on the hotel. McDonalds, Quiznos, Spangles and Subway to name a few. There is room service available, but it is from a local restaurant that will automatically add 20% gratuity to whatever you order.

The workout room has 2 ellipticals, 2 treadmills and a bike. The cardio equipment has their own personal tv attached with their own headphone jack. There are free weight dumbells and a universal machine that helps you work on your triceps and other muscle groups.

The biggest issue I had was with the parking. The parking structure is not attached but is adjacent to the hotel. Its not a far walk, but the hotel parking is located on the 5th floor and is not covered (see attached picture). The elevator never takes long, but it just took longer to get to my car than I would have liked.

I would stay here again.

Positives: new, clean, beautifully decorated, central location, courteous and friendly staff, good breakfast, reasonably priced.
Negative: inconvenient parking

Located just off Highway 400 in downtown Wichita, this new Fairfield Inn and Suites is without question the standard by which we will judge other Fairfields in the future. Its bright, new decor, ample amenities, and professional yet approachable staff provided the far-and-away best experience we've ever had at a Fairfield...and that's saying something because we've had some wonderful experiences at other properties across the country.

The lobby and breakfast areas feature contemporary yet inviting design in bright colors. The theme carries through to sleeping quarters. Our room contained two extremely comfortable queen beds, a desk with matching chair, a reading chair with lamp, dresser with large LCD television, with a large tiled bath area.

Breakfast items were similar to those found in other Fairfield Inns...a good thing, since we enjoy and appreciate the large selection that's usually available.

This property is part of an larger development known as "WaterWalk". The east (front) and south sides are bounded by major streets. The north side connects to a five-storey parking garage (more about that below), while the west side features a patio garden with outdoor seating. This "courtyard" looks outward to a park that lines the Arkansas River.

The "parking garage" is a mixed-use structure. The east half of the building features parking while the west side contains condominiums. Businesses are found on lower floors. First floor parking is reserved for business clients; second through fourth floors are open to the public. The top...uncovered...fifth floor is reserved for hotel patrons.

Because of this arrangement, Fairfield customers are required to either (1) unload their belongings while parked in the uncovered loading lane adjacent to the front door, or (2) haul their luggage from the top of the garage to street level, then a half-block down the sidewalk, to enter the building.

We appreciate the fact free parking is provided, but Wichita weather often swings from one extreme to the other. A cold front arrived the day we checked in; braving strong winds atop the garage in freezing temps was not pleasant. The proximity to the river made conditions even worse. I'd hate to visit during an ice storm!

Despite this anomoly, we can heartily recommend the downtown Fairfield Inn and Suites as a place to stay. You'll not find many better places to stay anywhere. We look forward to returning when the opportunity presents itself!

We were part of a large group that met to attend a funeral. The staff was very helpful and friendly at serving all of us as needed -- when kids lost room keys, etc. The front desk even helped store leftover food we brought in from relatives. The decor was colorful and cheerful. The small bar area was cozy. Breakfast was well-stocked -- everything from cereal to make-your-own waffles to microwave egg-and-sausage-biscuit sandwiches. The indoor pool water was warm and so was the room. There's free indoor parking in a garage right next door. Access to the major east-west road (U.S. 54) was a breeze. The lobby was perfect for our group "hanging out." A flat-screen T.V. and seating area was great, too. Two thumbs up!

Room Tip: Ask if they have any suites to get a bigger room.
