Very disappointed

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Aug 2024via mobile
I booked a room with balcony as I was thinking it would be nice to sit out there in the evening or early morning, I paid the extra price for a balcony to be very very disappointed, the room is old and worn,if you sit on the balcony It was right above the restaurant next to the exhaust fan for the cooking,so as soon as you opened any door or window that's all you could smell, that fat Greasy fast food smell,so I couldn't sit on my balcony so it was a waste of the extra $ I paid, the sink in my room was very slow to drain, probably blocked,I never used the shower as we showered at the pool,I was only here for 2 nights,so I never complained but if I had of been staying longer I would have complained, the mineral pool like the rest of the place is tired,old/ run down, considering the prices they charge no investment is being made on the up keep,in the pool its self it's scruffy, some sad tropical plants that really need to be scrapped or looked after better, there is the spin dryer in the changing room for your swim suits which is a great idea, but again it smells,I'm assuming it never gets cleaned ,not a lot to do In the area but there is a drive in movie on at the weekends, and aqua fit in the pool on a Monday,I didn't do either as I didn't realize they were on until I was leaving. This could be a lovely facility but needs an injection of cash. The elevator is very, very slow, often, you are better using the stairs, I only came here to experience the salt pool and now I've done that I won't be returning, which is a shame as I drove from Alberta, so a long drive for me,but I don't appreciate being ripped off for accommodation that doesn't live up to the $ I paid, for 2 nights I paid $480 no breakfast included, with a balcony I couldn't sit on and enjoy, which also needed cleaning and sweeping outside, you provided with an old rag,but seriously I had to wait for my room to be ready when I arrived, and I still had to clean my own balcony furniture, not acceptable for the price I paid,
there was a microwave in the room, fridge and a safe, the little beach over the road does have a few chairs and tables provided if you get there early enough in the day.

For over 20 years, I’ve been going for a soak once or twice a year in the mineral pool. My last visit there was more than disappointing. The change room floors were dirty, the bottom of the hot end of the pool was slimy, and there were chunks and flecks of various floaties everywhere. It was so disgusting, I wanted to call the health department, but couldn’t as it was a Sunday. I still may call them. Two thumbs down…and will never go back. Will tell everyone I know not to bother.

We loved coming here for the healing waters. It’s been about 4 years since our last stay-it has drastically increased in price-and drastically reduced in service and cleanliness.
The water NEVER had little tadpoles in it before-this stay it does.
The room was over $250/night and the carpets are dirty, the heater in the bathroom is rusted out and the toilet plugged on our first evening.
We decided to try an easy quick supper at the poolside watercrest cafe..we went down at 6:00pm, no one was around. After waiting at least 10 minutes I asked the pool attendant if anyone was working there-she replied they may be getting supplies. 10 more minutes go by and a crowd of people waiting, we left to go across the street to eat.
The windowsills along the pool walkway were filthy, the showers in the women’s change rooms were dirty and had enough hair to know they weren’t cleaned daily-possibly not even weekly. And they’ve discontinued the “free breakfast”.
We don’t plan to return. When a place jacks the prices but doesn’t deliver the quality for the price-we go elsewhere.
Moose Jaw temple gardens has gone downhill too.
Thankfully they are building a new spa at Dakota Dunes because sadly SK’s two “spas” are filthy.

Would rate this 4.5x. clean pleasant, slightly dated hotel with the access to the unique salt spa. Good value and friendly staff. Very comfortable beds. The great spa pool is so relaxing and therapeutical and included with the rooms. The Water front restaurant is superb with awesome food and staff highly recommended

Checked in June 1, out June 3... Jun3 power outage ~ PLANNED. No one informed us, we could have vacated day before & saved $160! No idea of situation, down dark, unlit stairs (emergency lights off) no staff to be found, front desk empty. Located 1 staff very helpful maintenance worker. However, we should have been notified prior. Could not utilize any amenities, obviously.... no notices at front desk, no notices to emails, nor to rooms.

We love the suite #1...it has 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, nice deck out back, with a barbecue and very roomy. I had discussed with the staff how bad the pull out sofa was, (from a previous stay) and they said they got a new one!! Honestly, must have paid a couple hundred for it, its worse than the 1st one, makes me sad (my poor sister had to sleep on it for 3 nights...awful!!)....This is an old motel across the road, from the main hotel...charging $250 a night and they can AFFORD decent furniture!!!! The curtain is just about falling down, too, with a $20 curtain rod!! The front step to come in is almost caving in from old lumber. When we got there, we were going to cook some foil wrapped baked potatoes, turned on the oven and it smoked so bad, it was awful and the fire alarm went off, finished the potatoes on the BBQ outside!! The toilet seat was almost falling off, its so loose. Its' so sad, because this could be so nice, and its not!! The beds are decent, but a steel rod cuts into the back of your knees if you try to sit on the edge (??) weird!! No chair in bedroom to help a person get dressed either. NEEDS a screen door , on the back door!! PLEASE DO BETTER!!! We want to love it, and we almost do!!! We did have lots of nice towels. I am somewhat handicapped and the handicap parking to go into the spa, is not good..its on an uphill grade..with concrete blocks to step over , then steel railings to get around and broken up concrete on the ground VERY awkward and dangerous...Last time we went in the winter and it wasn't decently shoveled out in the handicap parking, either. I find the spa is awkwardish for handicap people , its a chore to get out of the hot pool and into the cool pool, and if you are in a wheelchair, I think you can't even go in the cool pool... My friend took her husband in a wheelchair, and the ramp up and down to the hotel rooms is awful , for the person helping push it uphill, and hang onto it down hill..She quit going, plus no bathroom on the check in point, after you drove hours to get there.

Room tip: WE went the week BEFORE the long weekend and it was quiet and nice!!
