Great Sleep and relaxing pool

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Oct 2017
I came for a work retreat with about 100 others. They were very accommodating, trying to check as many as possible for early check ins. Mine was not one of the early check ins but to be fair we had large groups.
The meeting rooms were clean and tidy, we had coffee, tea, juice and water.
Meals- lunch was not great, it was sandwiches and veggies and dip.
But supper was good, it was chicken, two salads, buns potatoes, and dessert. The dessert was very good. We had a complementary breakfast, it was good but the set up for the breakfast needs to get reworked. The view from the dinning room out on the lake was breath taking. We had pizza and salad the lunch before we went home. That was also good. All the meals had options, so if you were vegetarian or glutine free you could made arrangements ahead of time. Many used this service.
Went to the gift shop, lots of stuff to buy.
Went to the pool, it was very relaxing.
Rooms, i didnt get the best view, some of my coworkers got breathtaking rooms, but the room was nice clean and beds were comfortable. There was also wine in the room if you wanted to buy a bottle. We were supplied with robes to use. They were plush, but could have had bigger sizes. The only having the one elevator made it tricky with so many people in the hotel, but that may be hard to change at this point.
All in all it was a good trip.

I recently stayed at the Manitou Springs hotel and had a pretty bad experience. This is sad as I have stayed here many times before and most of the time it was good. In fact I was here in February and everything was fine. Now in July I have had a totally different experience. The pool was nice as always. The first night we went to the restaurant for supper. The server that seated us had started working there maybe a few hours before we came in because she was totally clueless about drinks, specials and where the kids meals were. The menu was totally changed and not for the better. Now there is NO kids menu. For the amount of children staying in this hotel it is completely ridiculous to have no kids menu!! I guess they are now discouraging guests with children. Our dinner then starts with my daughter crying. We really should have walked out right there. So finally a server with a clue shows up. She takes me and my husband's drink order and walks away totally ignoring my daughter. Now my daughter is really crying. Finally the server comes back with mine and my husband's drinks and I had to order for my daughter as the server still did not acknowledge my daughter. I ordered the cocktail special which was a Bellini, well sort of, it was not good. So we order and our meals include the salad bar. The salad bar was truly appalling!!! The lettuce was all brown and rusty. There was a very sour smell coming from the salad bar. It was dirty. It had old dried out green onions, slimy cucumbers, and to top it off MOLDY carrots. Mold on the salad bar!!! Needless to say we skipped the salad bar. There were 2 other tables in the restaurant so service should have been great. But no... what service?? A man at the other table asked 2 times where their food was. Apparently they had been waiting an awfully long time. Our food finally came. My daughter's pasta and meat sauce was not good and she hardly touched it. My husband ordered chicken parmesan which comes with potatoes?? Bizarre. Everyone knows chicken parmesan is always served with pasta or risotto. I ordered chicken cordon bleu. They use a chicken supreme breast which has a drumette attached. It tasted a little fishy. I attributed that to having one deep fryer that they're doing fish and everything else in. The mashed potatoes were dry and the vegetables were covered in dry thyme. Thyme should be used sparingly as it can quickly overwhelm things as it did in this case. Inedible vegetables! So I ate my chicken but noticed it was getting pinker as I got closer to the drumette. The dining room was so dim I couldn't really see the color of the chicken so I cut into the wing to check it and I notice it's pink. I took a picture with my phone so I could use the flash for light and discovered the drumette is totally raw. Luckily I had stopped eating the chicken before I got there. We would have complained but there were no servers around to complain to. We waited for maybe 10 minutes with dirty plates and were completely ignored. By this time my daughter was tired and had enough so I left to take her to bed and my husband set out to settle the bill. I didn't sleep that night as the raw chicken had grossed me out and I was so worried about food poisoning. Luckily I quit eating it soon enough and I was fine. The breakfast is absolute slop now. Carton eggs, dried out sausage, sour ham and hashbrowns, dried up muffins, watered down juice, filthy community margarine in a big bowl full of toast crumbs, sour smelling buffet table. Oh the whole affair was just gross!! Quite obviously no one in this restaurant cares about the quality of the food and from what I saw they should be closed down. Someone needs to call Gordon Ramsey because there is a huge Kitchen Nightmare happening there!
At one point we were in our hotel room and my daughter asked me if we had eaten any tomatoes in our room. I said no and she proceeded to show me 2 moldy cherry tomato halves on the floor next to our fridge in our room. Obviously the cleaning is no longer a priority in this hotel either! Too bad this was discovered on our last day. When we were leaving I told the lady at the front desk about our terrible experience and all she could offer me was $30 off of a $500+ bill. Big mistake.

This entire experience was terrible. I am so disappointed. My advice to anyone is save your money. This hotel is way overpriced for the quality you receive. The menu in the restaurant is terrible and totally over priced. I would sugggest staying elsewhere and just coming to the pool. It would take a miracle to get me back there. Never again!

Manitou Beach is a hidden gem in the Prairies. We stayed for two nights at the Manitou Springs Resort and really enjoyed our stay. Rooms appear to have been renovated - clean carpet, very comfortable beds with nice linens, Staff at the restaurant were very friendly and service was exceptional. We had great meals. The main attraction is, of course, the mineral pool and we were not disappointed. There is a choice of cold, warm and hot pools and, judging by the brownish water, there are minerals aplenty. It was very relaxing to float and feel the stress wash away. We would stay here again for a relaxing getaway.

We only recently heard of this place. It was a short 1.5 hour drive from home. There is an incredible view of the beach and lake from the front of the hotel. The hotel was very nice (dated a little ) and the room was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the mineral spa. The water was very murky with minerals. We ate at the Terrace Patio restaurant. It is very well landscaped and a great place to sit. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

The mineral pool was a unique and wonderful experience it was so relaxing; however, there wasn't much difference in the hot and cold regions of the pool. If you plan on visiting Manitou beware that most businesses only accept cash. The customer service was also subpar, everyone seemed grouchy, but overall we had a great time and plan on going back.
