The decor is a bit rustic and the tables are a bit rickety at times but this is by far the best food in Council Grove. There is often a line but the wait is never too long. I always choose one of the specials but they also have a full menu. The food is old fashioned ranch food - fried chicken, meatloaf, chicken fried steak, etc. You get a choice of salads, vegetables, and potatoes and hot rolls too. I've never had dessert as there just isn't room after the large portions. This might not be the place for a romantic dinner but don't hesitate to take the family and a hearty appetite!

This was the best breakfast we've had in a long time. The biscuits & gravy were amazing. Be warned though...stick with a half order unless you're sharing with a family of 4! The sausage patty was the best I have ever had. Anywhere. The homemade cinnamon toast was heavenly; not sickeningly sweet or too much cinnamon. The staff were so friendly! Just a great little diner.

Its ok for farmers,@ ranchers, or single person. What else can I say, not much to speak of its just a ok type of cafe, designed for farmers in a small town to go to. People where polite service was very slow and lad back, our food was warm not hot. The prices was average for a cafe.

Saddlerock is nothing much to look at inside or outside, but don't let that stop you from eating there! This is where many of the farmers and ranchers eat breakfast and lunch. They know the best places in a town to eat!. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful, as are the omelets, breads, and everything else I have eaten there. This is one place that is able to make my 'over medium' eggs the way i like them - without having to be recooked! Generous portions and great service. If you want to catch up on the local gossip sit in the front dining room! Will continue to stop there whenever I am in town.
