We stopped by for lunch on Tuesday 11th September while walking the North Downs Way. Seemed promising as we sat down in the restaurant of this quaint English country pub. Over half an hour later we were still waiting. Would have been OK if the food had been any good. Two of us went for the bacon and apple stuffed pork tenderloin with fondant potato and courgette stuffed with summer vegetables in a red wine jus. This didn't justify the £18 price tag as the pork was overcooked and the rest was just bland. One of us had the venison haunch which was so tough it was inedible. To be fair the cost of this was refunded. Overall we would have much preferred simple well-cooked quality ingredients.

We at here on 2 successive days spending over £100 on each day.
On the second day we applied for a card to knock 10% off of the entire bill.
We were given the card but denied 10 % off as we didn’t tell them we had it the day before when we booked.
If it means that much to you perhaps my money would be better spent elsewhere my family were looking at booking 2-3 rooms next year and would have eaten in the pub again.
I honestly will have to rethink after this event.
The food was tasty enough but the meat was generally measured out into an extremely small dish.
I was expecting excellent things from this pub as recommended by my brother from Guernsey.
Personally I really didn’t see what all the fuss is about.
Perhaps you should look at customer service rather than raking in as much as you can take from everyone.
The surrounding area is an area of natural beauty with some good walks around.

Just left The Black Horse Inn after an evening meal and stay over to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Neither of us can fault a single thing, we had such a lovely time. The gardens are beautiful, the service was friendly and prompt and the atmosphere inside was very relaxing. Great choice of wine, we really enjoyed our New Zealand Savignon Blanc. The food was delicious, including breakfast which, like some other reviews have said, only consists of one of each item but the quality ingredients are filling and I am certain that if you were to ask for an extra sausage they would give you one. Overall I would highly recommend. Our lodge was newly renovated and everything was done to a really high standard, immaculate finish. Top quality bedding, TV, large clean towels. Everything was spotless. Lovely stay, great service, excellent food.

The room was good. The cooked breakfast left a lot to be desired, full English was ONE slice of bacon half a small tomato half a flat mushroom half slice fried bread an egg and one small sausage, it was not very big. Weatherspoons breakfast much better. The fresh fruit was nice but you felt they were pennypinching the eggs benedict didn't have much sauce. The service was not as you would excpect for the price paid.
Would not return.

had lunch here was recommended to visit the pub.

we meet family who arrived before us and had had coffee which they said wasn't very nice.

we were seated in quite a dark place which was also quite cold. We did ask after lunch if there was any where comfortable to sit and have a drink but there wasn't so we ended up sitting at the table.

we found the menu to.be quite expensive for lunch but 3 of us had scampie and 1 meat pudding which was all very nice.

the waitress was nice but a bit lacking in what was on the menue.
