“Top shelf thai food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2011

This hole in the wall thai place is to thai cuisine as the soup nazi is to soup, but the staff and owner are 1000 per cent friendlier! Traveled through SC twice this past week and ate there both times. The curry and noodle dishes explode with the thai flavors that you would expect have not tried the fish dishes yet, but that is nex on my list. great service and very fair prices oh and try the garlic rice, not overpowering, but just the right kick of garlic. Will be a veery sad day in SC if Diamond Thai should ever close!

“Tasty, cozy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2011

The menu is rather extensive and can be a little confusing, however I have no doubts that whatever you order you'll enjoy. The dishes are not huge; they're just the right size to be able to enjoy an appetizer as well and not feel uncomfortable afterward.

Parking can be tricky. The restaurant is located on a wide street with a small lot in back, or you can part at the asian supermarket lot.

The owner and the help are exceedingly friendly, though can be difficult to understand. Just smile and shrug, and they'll point to whatever they're asking about.

We did feel we got a little taken advantage of. I ordered salad (crispy fish), and he had soup, but she still asked us what kind of rice we wanted. We figured we'd just get rice gratis, but we were charged for it. Since the rice didn't exactly compliment the meal, it was a bit of a waste.

“Cooked something for us that wasn't on the menu!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2011

Travelling through Siouxland with no idea where to eat, we picked this as well reviewed. A bit difficult to find (confused the satnav) and it looks a bit down-at-heel from the outside in the middle of a rundown street. But don't be fooled. The food is excellent and really good value. We are vegetarian so when the menu said they would cook vegetarian choices on request, we asked what was available and between us and the restaurant manager we came up with veggie Pad Thai, one with egg, one without. It arrived in about five minutes, hot, delicious, and we ate the whole thing. Clearly the place is known to locals but it is really worth stopping at if you are in Sioux City.

“Yum-Yum Thai”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2011

We love Diamond Thai for a multitude of reasons. The food is ALWAYS delicious; curry perfectly spiced, delicious fish dishes, fresh cooked to order, and wonderful surprises. The specials are always tasty, too! We love Peter and his family..filled with smiles, generosity, and happiness. IT is a true family-style restaurant that we love going to! I highly recommend Diamond Thai and so does the rest of my family!

“Overrated and overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2011

I'm not sure why this place receives such high reviews, but my experience at Diamond Thai was average at best. The attentive service is what will stand out in my mind the most. The food, though well seasoned, was overpriced, portion sizes were extremely small, and was served luke warm. The restaurant itself appeared to be clean though the atmosphere certainly left a lot to be desired let alone the location of the restaurant itself. This is certainly not a place to bring person with mobility issues to. There is no parking lot so parking is on the street and subsequently, there is no dedicated space for handicapped parking in front of the restaurant. To enter the restaurant, you have a small, highly inclined ramp you have to to use to enter. This is covered in astroturf, which as we encountered yesterday, was full of snow and ice and made it a tad difficult when trying to enter.
