Description: Hillside Stables Restaurant was founded by Carol and Volker Nass in 2000. Purchased in 2012 by Angela Giannetti-Snyder, the restaurant serves authentic German specialties and American favorites in a casual, friendly, old-world atmosphere. Our menu offers a large selection of hand-cut, char-broiled steaks, fish and seafood - deep-fried or grilled with our own house marinade, a variety of "schnitzels", juicy marinated grill pork steaks, zesty German sausages, our signature chicken and duck, and much more

Drove to Sabula from Fulton, IL and this restaurant was worth the drive. When we arrived for a 6 PM reservation, we were the only people in the place. Katie was our server and she was wonderful. We all had the German specialties and were not disappointed. Love German food and loved the food we had here.

If you are looking for a restaurant with authentic German food, don't bother stopping here. Their attempt at it is not even close. If you couple the poor food with the price, you will regret ever stopping here.

Attractive decor and very clean but daily special was not available as well as atone of the listed beers. Food was good but not exceptional.

Went here for an anniversary dinner, wanted to try something new. Had the rouladen, which was over done and a little dry. Portions were tiny, mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like KFC... the waitress was awesome and knew the menu well and was attentive. However I probably will not visit again.
