You definitely get what you pay for when you stay at Awanmulan- and that is, the setting for being able to relax and escape. It is in a relatively isolated place that is quite close to the rain forest, and is meant to be open and part of nature. Even the buildings are built in such a way as to include nature and the scenery, rather than to isolate vacationers from this as is typical in hotels. Do come here to rest, relax, sit, enjoy the calmness, and do nothing.Do not come here to: be disruptive to the scenery or party. Take your time to smell the flowers and pet the doggies and kitties; the owners (Mr. & Mrs. Teng) and also the representative, Patrick will be the kindest and friendliest host during your stay. Patrick went above and beyond to assist us with our request and was courteous enough to prepare delicious breakfast for his guests. We would recommend Awanmulan to everybody who is trying to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

P.S. When they say watch out for leeches after it rains on the jungle trek, do watch out for leeches!!

We went there to unwind and relax, to bond as family of 3, celebrating the week our firstborn turned one. It was great, without distraction (and network), just focus on spending time together.

Great place, it have inspired me to live a minimalistic lifestyle. Hope to visit again when we have the chance.

Tucked in an orchard, next to a forested area, you'll find lots of chances to be one with nature. Night BBQ's & lazy late mornings are definite highlights.

Amenities are aplenty, with 2 pools & multiple BBQ pits (treated with salt, not chlorine). Some of the units are enemies pet-friendly, perfect for my 2 pooches. Our unit even had an outdoor shower area!

With the help of a guide, we managed to do a short hike with our dogs down to the nearby waterfall; nice & refreshing!

Definitely a place worth coming back to!

Awanmulan was slightly difficult to find as there were virtually no signages leading towards it (it is a private property and the owners keep it that way), but we soon discovered it was nestled on the same stretch of road as the Dusun and Shorea. We booked a room for two (the Sasterawan room) and had two great days there. We were advised to bring our own food as they locked the gates at night, and it was a pretty long drive to the nearest restaurant. All kinds of cooking equipment were provided for us, even a BBQ set. Sadly it rained on that night and we didn't manage to BBQ our food but we made use of the cooking equipment and had fun cooking up a storm. We also enjoyed lying in the hammock listening to the sound of the rain. At night it is pitch black around the area, it can get pretty scary for those who are afraid of the dark, but we felt at peace with the sounds of the various insects throughout the night. It is very close to nature and the forest is just there. In the morning we took a dip in the pool and it had a perfect view of the mountains. We also chatted with the friendly owners while they were relaxing near the pool. A great place for a short and peaceful getaway.

we love everything about it! the accommodation was great. we stayed in sasterawan. each unit got microwave, kitchenette complete with utensils and seasonings (ketchup, salt, etc). along with standard size fridge, dinner table, steamer, stove :) as there's no restaurant up hill, so we can bring things to cook/ reheat :) there're 2 pools, so just dip in whichever nearer to you :) there's no airconditioner though, but's it's a bit cold up there plus with the rainy season.
