Owner description: Part aquarium, part museum, part science center, the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium inspires stewardship by creating educational experiences where history and rivers come alive! Our 14-acre campus on the banks of the Mississippi River features two separate two-story buildings and an expansive outdoor plaza. The Museum & Aquarium is home to over 100 species of animals and thousands of historic artifacts. With so much to see and do, there's always a chance to #ExploreSomethingNew

I'm not sure if this would be an attraction for everybody. A lot of it is history specific to the river, water sheds and boats. There is an aquarium, but it's not awe inspiring. To see this whole attraction, there is a lot of walking involved. The museum and aquarium span several buildings and one decommissioned boat that was used to dredge the Mississppi. This place had it's moments and highlights, but it is not the most engaging place I've visited. The highlights for me were the bald eagles (caged) who took umbrage to our presence, the otters and the alligator which obliged us by prowling and coming right up to the window.

Interesting museum that showcases the Mississippi river. Many historical items are on display within the first building. The salt water exhibits were somewhat hard to locate as they were behind a large wall. There were several small videos that you could watch, make sure you plan enough time to see everything.

I love this museum. They continue to grow and offer more exhibits and learning areas without raising admission prices. We always enjoy ourselves here. There are some outdoor activities so dress weather appropriate. This is an Iowa treasure.

A beautifully designed and interesting place.... Worth the time for the fascinating info on the actual huge area of America and 2 Canadian provinces drained by the Mississippi. Great Landsat composite image of the entire River.
Unfortunately not well lit or marked so one can see what's where on it.

Aquarium has all the fish of the River.

Great for kids, but not really detailed enough for anyone with serious interest in this great River.

Cafe: disposable food served in disposable containers. Burgers and other such fast food of exactly that low quality.

The traveling Titanic exhibit was terrific and very informative. The rest of the museum and the aquarium though small was also very interesting and well laid out. I'm glad we included it on our trip.
