I was told that these restaurants were good. This was absolutely the very worst service I've experienced in a long time. We went there for dinner and I found it interesting that there wasn't a crowd considering how many hotels surround it. This should have been a clue. There were only a few people seated when we entered. The server was obviously new because she didn't really know much about the menu, but what she thought it should be. After placing our order it took a long time for our order to be served. Considering that BBQ is prepared long in advance, it doesn't take long to serve. One in our party ordered her beef on her baked potato to be dry, no sauce. So how did it come, sauced. The food was OK, but not exceptional BBQ. We ordered a desert, what a mistake. First of all considering that no other orders were being placed it should not have taken that long to get our order. You guessed it, it took quite awhile. We ordered the donuts and cherry pie. The donuts were overdone and close to burnt while the cherry pie was average at best and cold. The kitchen staff can make or break a restaurant and in this case they are killing this restaurant. Should have gone to Cracker Barrel right around the corner.

We were driving through Terre Haute, and this restaurant was across the parking lot from the hotel.

Started out with the boiled peanuts - mistake. They were cold-ish and pretty mushy.

Ordered a three meat platter with 2 sides - Ribs, Beef, and Turkey, with green beans and cabbage salad.

Turkey was tasteless, beef was dry - both were cold. Not even a hint of smoke, and none of the myriad of sauces on the table could save them.
Green bean side was lukewarm, and again tasteless and mushy.

Cabbage salad was good, and the ribs were the standout... but maybe that's just because the rest was so bad?

After the meal I stuck my head in through the kitchen door to find a bank of microwaves. So pretty much all of the 'hot' food was re-warmed in these? Even then they didn't really get any of it hot enough to serve.

Like I said in the title: "At least the walk to Cracker Barrel was short" and when CB provides a better meal, you're in trouble!

Should have stuck to my instincts that an empty restaurant at dinnertime is a red flag.

I emailed them directly - they responded that they would look into the problems and offered a $20 gift card. Since we don't live near any of their locations, it didn't help.

We stopped here for take out in the middle of the afternoon. The place was dead. The person assisting us, I believe it was the manager, was quite helpful.
We ended up getting a mix of meat and sides. They packed plenty of silverware and plates for us to take this to a local playground and successfully eat without issue. Even the wet-naps.
Kind of hard to get into and see off the main road, but we figured it out eventually after our GPS scolded us we needed to do some u-turns...

Very good pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. We liked the variety of sauces that we could try. Our server (we got carry out) was very friendly and helpful, but she did forget to give us utensils, napkins, and ketchup. Not a biggie since we ate next door in our room at the Pear Tree Inn.
